Anyone tried mini PCs? Not mac mini ;)

Enough making fool of me. I am going to install linux when google chrome stops working on my windows 8.1 laptop.
You can as well make money and buy proper computers instead of installing a system that is needed once a week.

Mini computers??? It might be a good idea for a traveler!

I would buy the strongest spec and not too loud.

Thinking about getting one.
I am using Mini ITX at the moment.

Mini ITX is still too big to transport. Forget about bag. You need to have a car to get it with monitor
+ if you can have portable monitor like on this video, so sweeet

I would prefer Mac Mini/Studio in that case.
My ITX case is around 8" x 5" at the moment, so I still can move it around easily.
I just need to have 1 monitor at home, and 1 monitor at work.

So your is very small, i have also mini ITX but dell case, motherboard is mini ITX, but case is tower ;)
Pretty old upgraded system:
i5 4th gen
SSD
24gb DDR3
RTX A2000

That's why looking for something modern. Power consumption and much faster CPUs

Oh then you can try something like mine first If you have time.
It's pretty fun to build up a SFFPC to be honest.

are you planning on using it as a modem? I also thought of doing something like this. You can buy unlocked m.2 5G modems for about 200$ and an appropriate adapter for the sim card. this should in theory work with those mini PCs.

PS: never tested it though, would be interesting to know if it works
I literally just typed 'pfsense' into our local equivalent of ebay (allegro) and this came out. I want to make bsd router/firewall out of it. So was mostly looking for enough net ports & wifi. Interestingly this happens to have sim slot too, which I don't need for this project but I suddenly got interested... Maybe I can make it into modem instead if I end up using other hardware for firewall, who knows. Looked like very versatile piece of hardware I could do different things with so I quickly clicked 'buy' xD. My biggest problem with bsds now is hardware compatibility... I'm sure this thing could be turned into a modem with linux just fine.
