Sold My First Site (Flippa), Any Advice

Hi guys,

I have recently sold my first site on flippa, a nice templated html/css site offering seo and marketing services (articles etc). I purchased the featured listing which helped and in the end got $540 for something that essentially took me 6 or so hours to put up online 8mths ago and never made a penny.

The auction has now ended and I wondered if there are any tips on the financial transaction, documents to hand over and support you guys would advise on.

Additionally thanks to Meathead and some others on this section, had I not read about flippa on here I would most definitely not have made the same level of profit!

I would stick with paypal under a $1000 transaction.

I have just returned from vacation so starting the transaction now, going to use paypal. Also had 2 others offer a backup purchase for the same price if it fails with the winner.

I ended up with 11 watching, 22 bids and 416 views, not bad for a template site that I just did some link building on.

I am completing the website sale today (creating the transfer docs and instructions) uploading the content to their ftp and zipping the psds and other files.

The issue i face that I need help with is how do i transfer the domain from my godaddy account to her netfirms.ca account? Is it a domain push?

Get her to setup a GoDaddy account. If she doesn't want to do that get her to pay for a registrar change on the domain (will be about $20).

It will be cheaper if she just creates a godaddy account and from there you can do an account transfer by checking the domain name in your domain manager and then by clicking on account change. Make sure she provides you with her GODADDY email address and her Godaddy account number. Good luck mate, good job and making that bacon. BTW how much traffic was your site getting?

I was wondering, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you post your listing, so we can all see the words you used to sell a site that had no current monetization? I'm very interested in successful cases like yours. You don't have to post the name of the site (if you don't want), I just want to know what you said to sell the thing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you are.

However, being a public forum there are plenty of reasons why you shouldn't publicly expose your URLs/auctions - you never know who is watching. Once you've been around a little longer you'll realise.

If you want to see what works, go over to Flippa and check the "just sold" category.
