Help with proxies

Hey all. I need some info on proxies. I always had an interest in them, but could never figure out the basics. i have tons of stuff I want to do to earn myself some money, but I need proxies to do it (im sure you can figure out why). I search google but I never find what I need, and am just overwhelmed. i figured a site that uses them for blackhat stuff would know a bit about them

heres my questions:

What's the difference between just using proxies, and 'anonymous surfing' i thought the latter was a slightly more secure version of a proxy, or are they one the same?

The different kinds of proxies, socks 5 and all, what does that all mean?

prob a few more but im going to narrow it down to how do I use them with firefox? I have tried Tor, NetConcealer or w/e and the likes, but they never work. And when i think I got it working, I am still not anonymous, or my IP address hasnt changed.

proxies are not always anonymous, some times you just surf from another locations, that's just the way it is, the best proxies are sock proxies from what i know..

A Transparent Proxy is a server that identifies itself as a proxy server and also makes the original IP address available through the http headers. These are generally used for their ability to cache websites and do not effectively provide any anonymity to those who use them. However, the use of a transparent proxy will get you around simple IP bans eg getting on to facebook or my space from school or work. They are transparent in the terms that your IP address is exposed, not transparent in the terms that you do not know that you are using it.

Anonymous Proxy This type of proxy server identifies itself as a proxy server so dont try and use it for some thing like IRC , but does not make the original IP address available. This type of proxy server is detectable by most adavance proxy checking scripts, but provides reasonable anonymity for most users depending what type of blackhat marketing you are doing

High Anonymity Proxy - This type of proxy server does not identify itself as a proxy server and does not make available the original IP address people sell these lists or as sold as services evey now and again you can find these types of proxys but takes a good deal of searching and testing

If you dont want to buy them you can get a few tools that will help you seach for proxy lists and test them if you do some googling you will find them if you cant find them post here and I might be able to post some tools

look for proxy finder enterprise and formm proxy leecher
the best proxy leecher ive use as for tester use charon
ive never use charon but i heard its good tester or u can use bleach tester
but i get banned after testing 120 green http proxy

Enterprise proxy finder I did not think much of but I do use forum proxy leecher works pretty well most tools have a good tester built in but uses a proxy judge finding (eg charon) but finding a good proxy judge can be a bit tricky but if you do some good google keyword searches you can find them

there is actually no such thing as a truly anonymous proxy. if you want true anonymity, use TOR. if you're just looking to get new ip addresses for whatever reason, proxies are fine.. i wrote a very nice tutorial on these things that will give you iron clad plausible deniability. hold on lemme find it.

Some notes on TOR:

1. Tor publishes exit node lists, so you probably don't want to use TOR to try and increase your CPM or anything like that. Also there are usualy only about 300~1500 active exit nodes at any one time if I remember correctly, so the unique IP pool isn't really that huge.​

2. Tor is SLOW. I could push my cat through a garden hose faster than you can push a website through Tor.​

3. THE BIG ONE: Exit node sniffing is RAMPANT on TOR, and easy too. At very least don't send any of your passwords over the wire while on the Tor network.​

It depends in what way you mean anonymous. For example, just because the proxy itself is an anonymous proxy doesn't mean the OS, or even an up stream provider for that matter isn't logging the connections somewhere. These days honeypots of all kinds, including "proxypots" sit in data centers all over the world.

hmm, Ive been using Charon and Proxyfirewall, they seem good. I was using the steps in the 'sockification for dummies." Can anyone tell me the purpose of CHaron, since you are using pf to actually use the proxy?
