Curious what the best way to run a large amount of browser tabs playing video without freezing and taking all bandwidth etc etc.

Is there a way to program the browser to show many small resolution videos or restrict resources while keeping the stream going ?

Thanks for your time !

I don't have a specific answer for your question, but having 100 users playing the same video in very low resolution around the same time sounds like a very obvious foot print.

One problem at a time brother :)

Get a better GPU and CPU.
Agree with him and You need at least 32Gigs of ram and decent CPU and any decent GPU.

However, I don't know which browser can have 100 tabs open and let all videos play. Because, Browser are made to save resources if the tabs are not active they stop in background. So you might have to check firefox as it have too much customisation available.

Open this in Firefox:

  • Increase the Number of Content Processes:
    • In Firefox, type about:config in the address bar and hit Enter.
    • Accept the risk and proceed.
    • Search for dom.ipc.processCount.
    • Double-click on it and increase the value. Firefox uses a process-per-tab model, so increasing this number allows more tabs to run simultaneously.
    • Keep in mind that increasing this value can consume more memory and CPU resources.
  • Adjust Browser Preferences:
    • Type about:preferences in the address bar.
    • Scroll down to the "Performance" section.
    • Uncheck "Use recommended performance settings."
    • Adjust "Content process limit" to a higher value. This setting controls how many content processes Firefox can use at maximum.
    • Again, keep in mind that this can increase resource usage.
Hopefully, It helps.

If you know Linux you can run 500 instances easy with little resources....I don't remember how the script is called but I think in Kali Linux comes pre installed

cool

Look for browser extensions or plugins that can help optimize resource usage, such as tab suspenders or resource managers.

this won't work after recent youtube policy. you would require dedicated proxies that are installed in all instances

Use containerization like docker or k8s on a cluster of servers

Ever thought about buying a used server with a GPU? Well, with so many offices shutting down and the economy going through a rough patch, hardware prices are dropping fast. You could get your hands on $15,000 worth of equipment for just $1000, even if it's a bit older. Here's the deal: Companies are downsizing and selling off their stuff, which means there's a ton of good gear out there for cheap. It's like a clearance sale for tech! So why not take advantage?
