How does this work?

The grocery store sells 6 packs of beer without a box, the bar code for a can of beer comes up as a 6 pack when scanned.

The 12 pack does not set off the weight sensor on the self checkout register, the 24 pack sometimes does.

THE CAN SCAN for 24 packs works best when the grocery store is very busy, like Sunday afternoons or nice days. The employee running the self check out machines will press the OK button on the weight violation.

I don't know where you live, but an extra quarter on the scale is enough to set off the weight limit around here. Then the clerk comes over and they're usually paid enough to notice that a 6 pack isn't a 12 pack. I guess we have a lot more people trying to cheat the system here.

Probably works better in rural areas or smaller stores. Cool that it works for you though.

Dont tell anyone, but I put a twist to this. Right before you scan the beer can, put a pack of gum in your back pocket.

I'm not a prude but I'm not a thief either and I've suffered greatly from thieves that would rather steal than work. This post caters to people without ethics, morals and / or too lazy to work for what they want.

This is BHW not a criminal board sharing how to successfully steal and commit crimes. Rather than bash those with ethics maybe you should move yourself to a forum targeting thieves, hacks and criminals. BHW isn't such a forum and their TOS is very clear about this. If you think we're all criminals and appreciate your criminal method you're sadly mistaken and you jeopardize the community we all enjoy. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I really just wanted to make a mockery of all the bogus sales pages we see all over the place. I'm sure somebody laughed. If a mod has a problem with it, it will be locked.
