Is making a porn site profitable?

There are other problems with porn sites:
1. Payment providers - forget about any mainstream payment provider. You have to use adult payment processors are CCBill which take 10-15% fee for each transaction and 500$ or 1000$ annual fixed fee for that industry.

2. Thinking about crypto? - well many tried and switched back to fiat. Regular people are not really experienced with crypto and it's a hustle to buy crypto, pay and sell it for real money.

3. Promotion - you can't promote it on mainstream sites. On Twitter and Reddit you can. But other than that you have to rely on SEO or pay ads on adult networks such as JuicyAds and TrafficJunky.

4. Legal problems - Depending on site type you might need to do KYC. You can't control everything that is uploaded there like child porn, revenge porn and such so you have to have some report mechanism but also make sure that your site doesn't turn into illegal hotspot

5. How to earn? - Ads maybe, but is it enough? Subscription or membership? But what do you offering to people that they can't get somewhere else for free...

I'm a programmer and a porn site is super easy for me to make, I see a lot of people on this site making them, is it something I should try? How can I possibly compete with pornhub?
Making a website is not a problem now a days, the real problems are proper maintenance, expansion and marketing. So along with starting a website, you can properly maintain it to give best user experience, expand it to make it one of the trusted site, and do its marketing to drive traffic then you must try it.

This is the dumbest thing I've heard all the time. People have been saying the same thing here since 2012. OnlyFans started in 2016 and last year they got $5.5 billion in Revenue.

Chaturbate is making record profits while Twitch is making losses. There is always more money in porn than in the mainstream.

CCBill takes 10.5% and it is completely worth it. Because you don't have to give a shit about chargebacks.

look at Patreon they pay 2.9% for Stripe and 30% for Apple if it is an iOS user but onlyfans only pay 10.5%.

Depend on your content quality and what you are offering to the audience.

Agreed, I'd rather let some payment system take 10% and not have to worry about getting deplatformed, blacklisted, charge-backed, etc. And there is always money to make in porn. Sex sells. Porn is pretty much the easiest way to make money, as long as you put some effort into it. Prostitution also, but that is a different topic.

You focused too much on point 5. But I am actually right. It's easy to say: I will create a porn site... But what are you going to charge for exactly?
OF is not the first such site that was charging for membership, they just had luck with pandemic and some good marketing stunts to make them go viral. There were such sites before.
You have to find what to charge for and then make people pay for that on your site vs on any other site with similar niche
