Ibpromoter?
Angela's backlinks?

What do you find to be the best side kick software to help you find backlinks?

I know this sounds like I'm snubbing you, but in truth, Yahoo site explorer is the best thing I know of to find places to backlink.

Code:
http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com

For example, I've been innundated with blog comments since SerpScraper came out. I take the spammer's URL from the comment and look up his backlinks on Yahoo site explorer and see where he's been getting comments or profile links to stick.

If you find a good page to leave backlinks on, don't stop there, look at all the other comments and see who else left a keyword backlink and research those sites for backlinks as well. You will find some really good sites for backlinks if you invest the time.

I've managed to pick up some PR 4 - 6 backlinks this way.

As an added bonus you get some good keyword ideas and they did all the keyword research for you!

Another option is to use Angela's backlink packs with a twist. Read his thread to see how to find your own places to backlink.
Code:

Keep track of your profile backlinks rss feeds and submit them to RSS aggregators to get your profiles indexed. (Not my idea but a good tactic to get your backlinks indexed.)

Then set up a Google Alert for "angelae8654" to email you when Google finds a new instance of that word - usually it is going to be a new property that Angela has placed her backlink and you can too. (This is not my idea and I take no credit. I read about it here last night, but can't find the thread.)

There are many other threads on BHW that can teach you how to do forum, profile, blog commenting, bookmarking, and Web 2.0 site backlinks to your site. A little searching and an butt load of reading is all it takes.

scrapebox

IB is just too much in my opinion, it's overly confusing then it needs to be

I use scrapebox and I research my own do-follow footprints....

I have scrapebox, and a good understanding of how it works, but have yet to find a custom footprint which harvests do-follow links! Would u be kind enough to share an example of how I would go about this?

Thanks in advance Sion

Use scrapebox to find possible sites to link from
Use SeNuke to CREATE pages to link from and promote them
Use Yahoo site explorer to see where your competition's links are coming from

You can do this fairly easily but it does require some manual work.

1) Find a Do Follow blog that has been spammed.
2) Copy the spammers URL
3) Paste the spammers URL into ScrapeBox in this format: link:spammers-url
4) Select Yahoo as the harvester
5) Start Harvesting
6) Export your harvested URLs.
7) Load the list into BlogAnalyzer
8) ScrapeBox will generate a list of blogs telling you which platform they are running on.
9) Manually go through the list and check the platforms you know are likely to be Do Follow (Wordpress will not be do follow).

It takes a bit of time - but in this manner you can have a few hundred do follow blogs within the space of a couple of hours.

You can make this a little bit more involved and generate a list of auto-approved do-follow blogs along with respective OBLs, URL PR and platform type.

Use Yahoo site explorer to see where your competition's links are coming from

You can use ScrapeBox to generate this list for you in a matter of minutes, along with the URL or Domain PR for every link.

Thanks Kendra...a good technique there

I have used scrapebox to simply scrape the sites where a compeditor is getting backlings, but it will be way easier to find a blog that has been spammed first then using those people's sites to see where they getting links from...never thought of that

try out seo spyglass. you can download it free as a trial

If you own market samurai, they got a very useful backlink checker. Well, actually, the backlink checker is just a link to Yahoo site explorer but they have this thing called PR analysis and Anchor text analysis.

It will give you the PR and the anchor text used for the backlink for 1,000 backlinks. It is very useful to size up your competitions.

A lot of people rely on backlink watch which is very accurate on the number of backlinks. However, the column that they display for nofollow and **************** is very inaccurate. You won't be getting the right picture if you follow them on that aspect.

I use Market Samurai's promotion module.

I prefer always Manual submission because ...Manual submission involves hand submitting your site to each directory individually. Manual submission does not use any software in the submission process. This method is recommended by most of the the web directories. Unlike automated submission, manual submission will not get your site banned from the search engine......
