I'm a programmer and a porn site is super easy for me to make, I see a lot of people on this site making them, is it something I should try? How can I possibly compete with pornhub?

Yes, it's still profitable. Just take a look what others tells. For example

That is the thing with websites in general, you can make a good one but you need to know how to drive traffic.
Porn gets more than 50% of the entire internet bandwidth, there will always be money to be made, but you'll have to find your niche because it's very competitive.

I advise against it. Porn will die completely in the next 5 years, all your efforts will be fruitless. AI porn is the new thing, but you probably don't have the skills and the funds required to build a big site on this. If you have some skill in technical things, I suggest you get a career coach and get hired by a big corp.

Yes, you should definitely try, but don't try to compete with pornhub, you don't have resources as a programmer to compete with it as you will need more than programming to compete, a lot lot more resources.

Since it is important to keep the visitors addicted to the site on porn sites, I think you can try various methods to keep the visitors involved because this will direct them to see it as their own site.

A lot of websites, SaaS, etc. while amazing from the technical side of things still fail to make a profit simply because they don't know how to market their service/product and reach their customers/users.

Not reasonable to attempt to compete with PH straight out of the gate, especially, if you're on your own. More feasible would be to go for a niche you'd be able to compete in.

For kids. Grown ups wanna see real shit. I wouldn't watch AI porn.

Depending on the approach you take. If you are doing the repost method is old, saturated and dead in my opinion

Years ago, I created a porn tube site using WordPress and a theme/plugin that auto-imported videos from xvideos. I think I barely managed to upload 40-50 videos. The plugin made the task easier, but it was terribly repetitive and boring to change the title and description of each video manually. I suppose with AI, it would be easier now.

The total cost, I believe, didn't even reach $80, including the domain, hosting, theme, and plugin

In terms of traffic, the website had around 100 daily visitors. For monetization, I decided to bypass networks and place my own banners with CPA offers, mainly dating. However, I didn't get a single conversion.

Talking to others, I realized that to make it minimally profitable, you need to drive very large amounts of traffic.

If it helps, that was my experience. I left it aside because I don't have the patience for these things, and I was also afraid that one day xvideos might block all external players or something similar, and all the content on my website would go to waste.

It will become so good that you will prefer it over the real stuff. Or maybe there will be some AI editor that will be augmenting heavily the footage of real porn. Nevertheless, the industry is evolving in a way that pushes small fish out of the pond.

If you are outside the US, you can compete with pornhub in the following states: Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Utah and Virginia. Florida may also become another one in a year or two.

What is different about those states regarding competing with pornhub?

ID verification laws by those states. In some of them, Pornhub has even blocked traffic enitrelly(Texas and I think Virginia as well)

A website that focused on local seo in those states could probably get some decent traffic.

Ah ok, now there's a golden opportunity for op.

Yes, Porn site can be profitable, success depends on factors like content quality, marketing, legal compliance, and effective monetization strategies.
