Google Core update killed SEO?

SEO will only apply to multi million businesses like reddit, quora etc... For small and medium size websites there is no point any more. There is no value for money in getting ranking on page 2,3 or even lower down. So yeah... if you want to adapt good luck and waste even more time and money on pointless SEO.SEO is not dead. It just changed) and we will all have to adapt to it.
Google is changing the rules of the game. Well, we will also change the principles of our work.
It will be very interesting

Thought I’d throw my bit of hate speech out there about the update but I am of the school of thought that it’ll have to change eventually again because it didn’t do anything quite all that good and might have actually just made more problems…
For example, decided to take a look at the gambling niche which is highly competitive and take a look at these two sites
https://www.mlive.com/betting/reviews/caesars/https://www.pennlive.com/betting/reviews/caesars/
First page rankings for both sites that are not in the niche, for a great commercial keyword, but just news sites feeding off their authority to make affiliate commission, and at that, they seem to be run by the same person because they have the exact same design… shameless money grab
Wasn’t that what the update was about in the first place? Sh*t like that?
I’m of the opinion it won’t last honestly. The results aren’t good and if you look deeper. What prompted the change? A change in the information consumption. AI changed a lot, did create more spam and they tried to figure it out, and failed. In general USG of any form whether forums or TikTok’s are appealing to people. But whatever they did was not the solution.
In the long run, I doubt with the younger population having such a high distrust in media that Google in the long run will be able to appeal without unique voices, so I don’t buy the big media conspiracy either. Who will want to make website content if they can’t make $ from it in the future. Then what?

Same think is being reported by BHW members also. However, I feel that many of these websites will already recovery by next update automatically.

You should probably quit SEO then. Just PM me with the list of clients you have and I'll reach out to each personally to let them know SEO is doomed.

SEO is destined to outperform Google ads in the long run, especially considering the shifting dynamics of the new generation. With the increasing awareness of how information and media flow globally, current/new generation thinkers are more likely to view ads as risky clickbait. While older demographics still engage with ads at this moment, there's a growing segment of natural contrarians who resist them and prefer independent research from a regular person, to business owners, etc. This trend not only suggests that SEO will continue to be relevant in capturing audiences who seek reliable sources. But as we approach a generational shift, particularly into the 25-year span generation, the dominance of SEO over google ads seems inevitable in the coming years. Just my opinion! could be wrong, this space is forever learning and changing, so I could change my thought by next year and say the opposite if things change, but thats what I see at this moment.

Most people are stupid and they will just click whatever is number 1 in the google search results. They don't care if it is an ad or not. You are over thinking it too much.

But if you look at history, a lot of the times, many people bounce back and more important lessons are learned.
Whenever there is a major shift in traffic after a Google update, it's a wake-up call to the SEO community at large.
Google is on the record as saying that the update that they just did targeted expired domains.
As you probably already know, expired domains have been the cornerstone of the SEO community in getting high-quality backlinks quickly.
Well, that is off the table now so we're back to square one.
Also, a lot of people are into AI content.
They just copied and pasted or just run a script to automatically suck up content generated by ChatGPT onto their website.
As a result, they got punished.
If there is any takeaway here, it's not that the Google core update killed SEO.
It's more of Google cleaning house.
So if you're gonna be lazy, if you're gonna take shortcuts, or if you're going to use backlink building techniques that have a lot of red flags and structural weaknesses, then you're running a major risk.
That's really the only key lesson that the most recent Google core update brought to the table.
But if you go back to square one and focus on actually putting together a truly whitehat website, you should be fine.

You actually deliver the experience that your target customers are looking for.
I know it's not sexy.
I know it takes a lot of work and time, but that's precisely the point.
If you do something that your competitors hate doing, you're building a competitive advantage.
They may have all the shortcuts and they may get a lot more traffic and make more money in the short term, but it's only a matter of time until that castle gets taken down.
You on the other hand are building your house on solid bedrock.
