Does Google ever not update SERPs for specific keywords? Over 70% of the search results are 404 pages that were once backlinked and then deleted. Despite having well-crafted image and text content, I do not appear in the keyword search results.

If Google is showing a bunch of deleted pages for your search, make new and good stuff, do good SEO, and tell Google about it through Search Console to get your site noticed and seen.

Google does delay SERP updates occasionally, especially if they're rolling out algorithm changes or if they're experiencing indexing issues. The 404s you're seeing could be a sign of the latter

instead you can also use Google Search Console's Fetch as Google feature to manually request for specific pages to be indexed.

To get Google to notice your site, make sure your backlinks are clean, update your content often, and submit your site map to Google Search Console.
