I don't often watch movies but prison movies fascinate the sh!t outta me especially involving an escape. This one is loosely based on the unresolved case of the Alcatraz escape in the 60s, a mystery that was never solved. No bodies ever found of the escapees in San Fransisco bay and some claim to have witnessed the older now men couple decades later in South America living happy and free.

FYI Shawshank Redemption is fiction book by Stephen King and was influenced by movie Escape from Alcatraz and uses some characters from real life Alcatraz but not based on any actual Alcatraz escape which was a book by different author based on true escape story.

Birdman hanging himself was a sad moment. Stephen King is one of the best authors and Shawshank Redemption was a good movie adaption of his works.
