news.grets.store spam traffic

Lol, just after confirming..I noticed it has returned in the past 20 minutes :)))

Eh, sorry, I just checked the real time, I don't see Poland anymore...woohoo! I think the second IP address worked for me. Thank you so much!
As I said earlier it might take 10-20 minutes or an hour...who knows...it worked on my site. I no longer get those polish visits

Not working for me. I have tried Cloudflare, server-level block, but found that it's just the referral spam. Not being able to block it.

Any other methods?

Facing the same issue, everything I tried so far didn't work.
What's the point of sending so much bot traffic to other people's websites?

I guess we should team up and DDOS those mfos. :D

That is not real traffic. They are directly hitting google analytics tracking without generating any kind of traffic on your server/site. Cloudflare won't even notice this traffic, so you can't exclude it.

On the GA Support forum, someone said they are gathering your GA4 tag and pinging it from their servers. They never hit our site after the capture, but our Analytics are getting banged up. I would hate to have to delete my tag and start a new one. Losing history is not so good. Hopefully Google will figure out there's a problem. Still following here to see if anyone finds a workable solution. I tried both suggested so far, to no avail.

I also tried everything and nothing worked. Unbelievable that Google does not respond in the official forum and it's been more than 5 days. Damn Google.

The referral filtering does not work for me which is strange, I wonder how they got around that...

Also tried those internal IPs.

Who's actually managed to fix it so far?

Screenshot_2024_0222_073834.jpgi'm seeing more weird names on my GA4 today. I'm freaking out

That's pretty strange. Are those others from Poland too?

I highly doubt so.
Yes, Poland but now comes in different domains, at least for me. I didn't see news.grets.stores today(yet).

Btw, I love your journey discussions!

Thanks, that's very interesting.
For me, the most interesting thing is to find out what the owner of these domains try to achieve, what goals they follow with this.

Obviously when you try to visit on of the domains, it asks you for a false verification, and will send you notifications instead (I didn't click it since sometimes it is tricky to turn these off later on). So perhaps that's the goal, to attract visitors this way, and then spam them with notifications?

Can also be that they try to gain backlinks, since no doubt people discuss this on various forums and places on the internet, sometimes posting links to the domains where the spam "comes from".

Anyway, we'll see what happens. I hope they will get tired from it, or the costs outweigh the gains, and will finally shut down the operation :).

I hope their goals are the "innocent" type lol. Not something outrageous.

Actually, I visited the website and it took me to a page with ads. Like "you've won an iPhone" and other ads. I managed to turn it off (hopefully).

And could be that as well, backlinks. How smart and an easy way to earn the backlinks!

Also noticed they are coming from Netherlands, and Greece.

Don't you think this can negatively impact your Domain performance in Google's eyes? Your conversion, pages per visit, and time on site get crushed, no? I would think that Google bots see this (these, now) traffic sources as an attempt to falsely boost your traffic, which they would penalize you for, unless Google steps in with a patch/fix. Am I thinking about this incorrectly?

That's what I'm thinking. Unless the inept people at Google correct it they will see it as data manipulation and it will affect us.
