I have an online store for a single product.Currently, all sales come through paid advertising and email marketing.

Now I am starting marketing through influencers. What kind of strategy works best? How to find USA Instagram accounts to offer the product to? I'm looking for relatively small influencers who might be interested in promoting in exchange for the product alone. The product is worth $70 and very practical for many.

How do you approach them? Do you give clear instructions on how to promote the product? Should they promote a direct link to the product pages, or to the brand's Instagram account? All tips are welcome!

Contact these account holders via DM and submit your offer.

If they accept, ask them to send you screenshots of their audience statistics.

This way you can be sure that the majority of their followers are from the USA.

Best,

Ok. Any good ways to find those accounts?

You can scrape accounts from Instagram that fit certain criteria. To do this there are numerous tools/services. You can check the marketplace here or try a google search. There are plenty of providers.

Once you've found a good influencer that fits your requirements be sure to check their followings too as they also likely follow similar influencers in their niche.

Before sending a DM it might be worth reaching out via email if they have it available. For business enquiries email contact is preferred and can make your pitch appear more professional.

I would contact them through mail instead of DM as those might get overread

you would want to scout for those that are niche relevant to what you're selling. aim for smaller influencers (10k-100k followers) who already talk about stuff related to your product. tools like HypeAuditor can help you out there.

You'd want to send a DM that offers your product in exchange for a shoutout, making sure to say why it's a cool deal for them.

Influncer marketing can be daunting. Getting a good influencer from US can be difficult. But you need to d a lot of due diligence to get a influencer that can help your business.

To get some influencers, do the following:
  • check some accounts that have good following that align with what you do
  • DM them your offer
  • If someone accepts your offer, ask him to provide evidence to share that his followers are from your target location

Hope you find success

If you are only targeting random users from the USA, I recommend using geotags.

You can use geotags like Los Angeles, Texas, New York etc.

Geotags work best for me.

Additionally, if you click on the usernames of the influencers, you can see whether they are from the USA or not with the "About this account" information.

Contacting them through mail seems the most viable and professional way especially since your messages can get lost in their DMS.

There's good advice above about finding and contacting the influencers

In terms of this:

Should they promote a direct link to the product pages, or to the brand's Instagram account? All tips are welcome!

You can do both - promote the product page and your brand's Instagram. When they post on their feed, focus on the product yes ("link in bio"), but also tag your brand's IG in the caption @, tag your page, and if you decide, can even try to use the "in partnership with" or "with xyz" features.

Story post, same thing. Product link on story plus a small @ tag of your brand's IG on the story.

Focus on the product and sales yeah, but mentioning your page also doesn't hurt and it'll bring some followers etc to your page, so you get more value out of the shoutout of course. Just don't make it look too spammy.

I'd also recommend using some kind of link tracker to track and review the traffic coming from each Influencer. Whether it be an external tracker like bitly etc, or even an internal Shopify (or whatever ecom platform youre on) tracking app that'll even allow you track sales/ add to carts of each link etc.

Or an even faster & simpler way would just be to create a coupon specific to the influencer - bonus if the coupon is related to the influnecers page name for e.g, "Use coupon ELONMUSK10 for an extra 10% off" - you can also decide if you wan't to run a kind of affiliate setup, by compensating the influencer for each sale made from their audience. This may incentivize them more since you mentioned only sending them the product along (and not paying for the shoutout). Even something like $5 per sale should be enough to get more people to bite on promoting your product. But that's your choice.

But yeah, track something so you'll be able to better see the demographics & performance etc of each influencer and figure out which one works best to bring you quality traffic and sales - if this is longterm you can save a list of the best performing ones and always promo with them again later, say once a month etc or on shopping holidays like BFCM & Xmas etc. Usually I would use this list and advertise other products with them, but you said you're a 1 product store so yeah.

Good luck!

I implemented a successful strategy that generated millions in revenue. Here's what I did: I collected data from over 80-100 million Instagram profiles and sent out millions of emails. My focus was on micro-influencers since they were easier to convert, and they covered the shipping costs. My product expenses were around $7, and shipping ranged from $14-16 per item. Some customers even chose over 11 products, leading to substantial profits. This approach still works in 2024, but it's crucial to figure out how to send millions of emails and create a compelling offer

Usually some people might add a contact email or bussines only, you can let them know your idea and the colaboration to promote your product, if they will accept or no everything will depend on how you sell them the colab, if you will give them the product they will review I believe let them choose what to promote is ok but I do not know if that will backfire in case they say no because they want something in specific and how promote the product you can tell them your ideas but sometimes is better that you let them have that creativity to do it but you can give them some ideas and if they feel that will work they will do it because they know their audience and what they like or dislike.
