Pet/animal niche backlinks

Does anyone know of any pet/animal niche sites to get backlinks from that aren't absurdly expensive? I am struggling massively to find any that aren't just spammy domain drops.

You'd have to outreach yourself to get links like that.

Check backlink profiles of your competitors. I'm sure there is a bunch of good candidates.

I've tried that and still can't seem to gain traction. There are tons of weird spammy links that I have to filter through; I wish I could figure out a better way for that. But then the real sites I do find I get some of the weirdest responses.

For example, one site that, on the surface anyway, looks extremely legit and up-front, has a Contact Us submission box instead of a posted email. When I send a message through there, I end up getting an email back from a weird Gmail address from someone trying to sell me links from over 500 different sites. Which, of course, leads me to believe it's just a large Pbn. Even still, I didn't do it because they wanted over $300 for a backlink. Another site I contacted recently wanted $150 every 6 months I wanted the link to be live.

Numerous other sites I have never gotten responses from. Which is often the most common. So I have no way of knowing whether or not they sell links at all.

I'll try to take a look. I tried using Pinterest and I have a bunch of posts, couldn't figure out how to make boards or anything else. And as far as GSC is concerned the only backlink I have is from my profile page and I'm almost certain it's no follow.

Gotcha. I gave up on Facebook a while ago, couldn't ever make anything work on there. I'll look on youtube and see what else I can find with pinterest.

Good and quality links are typically expensive but you stand a chance of getting them cheaper or at the best price possible, if you handle the outreach by yourself.

Doing your own outreach can be more cost-effective in the long run, as you're not paying a markup to a seller. While it does require time and effort, the rewards are good link placement at a lower cost.

Yeah I think I'm either not good at it or not finding the right ones. I haven't even tried in about 6 months but lately I've been thinking its the one thing really holding me back from growing more. I noticed more growth when I was actively trying to get links even though I was lucky to get one every 2-4 weeks.

Thanks so much for that link! I read through everything twice, and that gives me a much better idea of how to find outreach targets. I have Semrush instead of Ahrefs, so I'll have to figure out exactly how to do it on there, but I'm pretty sure I've seen a place for it before; I just didn't know quite what to do with it.

Oddly enough, I've now learned two different things to use Semrush for in the past 24 hours, and that really gives me increased motivation to figure this out.

Do you happen to have an example or a rough idea of what you send in your initial outreach email? I think that's where I'm going to be lacking the most. If you'd be willing to send me examples either here or in DM, I'd appreciate it so much!

So that's pretty short and to the point, but it gets responses? I've been trying longer messages and offering URLs to previous work as examples. Hasn't worked too well though.

And what would you recommend I put for the position, if anything? The site is just me and a few freelancers I've hired, but listing myself as owner or something just comes off a bit weird.

Also, what is a media kit? I've seen that mentioned on a few sites I was trying to contact but had no clue what it was. Figured it was for advertising of some sort.

I'm still not totally sure how to use Pinterest. I figured out the boards but I don't know how people find the pins you make. I did gain one follower though so I guess there's that.

I have a new dog blog too and still struggling with backlinks, start with foundation links and target very easy keywords as a start and use infographics in your site and share it with sharing sites, the best thing to share in pinterest is infographic don't just pin a photo with (read more) and a link to ur site, that doesn't work you need to add value, with time you will gain followers
