Hi all,
I'm fairly new to SEO and only started learning a few months ago to try and improve the rankings of my Ecom store.
Recently I purchased a domain that is DR27 and has the exact keyword related to my niche in the URL and all their backlinks. It previously belonged to a society within my niche and after they lost the domain they relaunched under the same domain name but changed to .org.
Currently there are still 400 links pointing to the old domain from Forbes, LA TImes, NYTimes, buzzfeed and a whole bunch of other smaller newspapers and niche related sites. However the anchor text for all of these links is either the URL or 'International [Niche] society'
I'm not sure what would be the best way to maximize the value of this domain. I am considering either publish a blog post on my Ecommerce store about the society and the doing a 301 redirect from this new domain over to my blog post. This would make the anchor texts fit with the blog post and I can internally link to my money pages from there.
Alternatively I use this domain to start publishing blog posts within my niche to build some topical authority again and start gaining traffic, then put a new link on the home page over to my store.
Lastly I could go super shady and just pretend to be the societies official website as their current one is trash. The domain they're using is only 1 year old whereas mine is 6 years old. I could then use the societies name to build HARO links, steal all their broken backlinks and request new ones from the numerous publications where they've been mentioned.
I'd be interested in some suggestions on how best to utilize this!
Thanks
