As above have said, domain names are in the hands of third parties so there's always going to be a chance of takedown. That said, the most hardened seem to be .su (old Soviet Union), .so (Somalia) and .to (Tonga) - judging from movie and torrent sites I see in the SERPs.

If you want to run a movie site, you should factor that in mind. Eventually, your site would be a target and probably get taken down. The domain wouldn't necessarily prevent it, some maybe difficult, specifically those from countries that aren't allies of the US. Nevertheless, always be prepared to move to the next domain.

As others have mentioned .to is what's working currently.

I Don think it's bullet proof & cannot be taken down but it survives better in current times.

Most movie sites I know with this extension for the past year are still live.

Any domains can be taken down, make sure you have viewers subbing to your FB page or Twitter page to retain customers.

Backing up your website daily or every 12 hours is a must, high chance of being hacked + taken down as well.

Start building 4 or 5 at the same time, not just 1 for the same reason you asked.

If they take 1, it's easier to rebuild with 4 left then having 1 and losing everything over night

tLD really does matter in ranking plus safety. Some even said tLD doesn't matter with ranking. Lol

TLDs like .to or .so is suits with high risk sites and it has good immune when compare with major TLDs like .com.

In other hands .com ranks fast and Google always give priority for that. If you own autobloggs, niche sites like me and do SEO you would have known this.

I guess for the best protection depending on the content is you would need to host your domain in a country that ignores requests.Dont forget your domain tld and your dns servers.
Never of course use com,net,org but of course the fbi can ask get interpol involved.
Its best if you really want to be safe use multiple tld's in another country and multiple off shore locations.

Those who are saying domain extensions doesn't matter, from my personal experience, it does matter. But still you can use other extensions if you are running warez sites as they will be removed from Google index sooner or later by copyright claims.

Focus on creating brand name for your warez sites, eg. 9anime, 123movies something like that.
