I am not sure where to put this. Not even sure if BHW is a place to as this but, there are smart people here.

4 years ago I started receiving emails from Generali Switzerland as I was their client. Emails from their CRM, from their account manager, newsletters, all kinds of stuff. First I was like, on it's a scam... and I ignored it.

Turns our, it's not a scam and they have put my email address in their system for one of their clients. My name and his name are basically the same. Not sure how this happened, probably a typo when the guy got his policy signed.

Now I am receiving all kinds of sensitive information about the poor guy, his address, invoices for his insurance, some fender bender that he had a year ago and policy activation for that. I know when his birthday is because I got a birthday card today. Every time he is late with payments, I receive this email. When he changes his policy, I receive this.

I tried to resolve this several times, email them on every email I could find, even emailed account managers directly, contacted them on social media. They never respond and I am still receiving these emails.

What would you do?

It seems very suspicious that the employees of the company don't want to deal with this situation. They're getting a certain place in hell.

But you can still contact the owner of those documents / billing statements and stuff directly...Maybe even file a class action lawsuit against the insurance company, who definitely doesn't want to address this, or the employees are too relaxed.

Try contacting a buddy

I only have a physical address of this guy, I can only send him an old fashioned letter :D

Yeah this is so unprofessional, it blows my mind. I was thinking about a law suit, but tbh I don't have time for that.

You could try to find him by his social media address, provided he has listed them in his profile...

Or send an e-mail to his inbox.

If that person is from the European Union, this leak is a serious breach of GDPR, and they can be sued for that. In your case, I would contact the person and tell him about that.

Tried to find him, all the emails I presumed could be his, are not (bounce or revert back to me somehow). Can't find him on social media.

Send Him A Letter on is physical mailbox and help him to safeguard his assets,

I could do that, but why would I pay for international phone call when they haven't read any of the emails I have sent? Not doing that.

I may have found a solution, there is Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner in Switzerland and I can report a personal data breach online through their portal.

Well, may be they do not monitor the email addresses you have tried before.

Regardless, you are doing a great job by reporting this incident. Many (including me) would probably just spam the email and move on. But at the end of the day, if you really want to fix it quickly, calling someone directly usually does help.

Update, I went through all of the emails and in one of those I found a guys number :D
Contacted him and we sorted it all out. We have a same name and our emails are different in one letter, so it was a typo.

I sent him all of the emails I got and he will be filing a law suit.
