I'm not talking about just one single page with footer / sidebar, but website wide footer / sidebar backlink.
Like, for example, every page of the website would have the footer and sidebar link to your website.
So it could mean having like 100+ backlinks from a single referring domain.
I know google is smart enough to mark them as unimportant, but would it mean less link juice than just a single main homepage backlink?
Also, would google see it as spammy backlink since it would generate hundreds if not thousands of backlink in a single day?

footer links usually have low CTR and visibility (many times people don't even scroll to the bottom to see those links, much less click on them), so yeah, they're pretty useless in terms of SEO.

Not sure about sidebar links, but I assume that if they're surround by relevant text they could be worth something....

yes and no.

They would only see it as spam if they think you're doing it for SEO purposes (how they determine this I don't know, though), but if they believe that your footer links help the user they won't be considered spam.

But this discussion applies to internal links mostly, I'm not 100% certain how external links are viewed by google but if I were to guess I'd say they simply ignore them (so you won't get any SEO benefit out of them) unless it's really obvious that you're using them for link building, in which case they might penalize you

Having lots of links from the footer or sidebar of one website might not give each link as much power. But if the site is good and relevant, they can still help your site. Just watch out for too many links from spammy sites, as they could hurt your rankings.

I think this is possible with your own PBN only.

Because no blogger will agree to give you link from all of it's pages.

Though it is possible it is not effective as single home page backlink from good authority site.

They work just fine, even for websites having xxxK+ pages, don't worry about it,
You'll have to make sure you're paying the right price & aiming for the right websites tho, just like any other link

You can get these links from Authoritative, Quality and trust worthy sites ....Be aware of spammy links...

Yes they still have some value but as the poster above said they will have a lot more value if they come from quality, authoritative sites. Not low quality spammy ones

As we analyze our customers projects, sidebar/footer backlinks work great for adult industry and some particular GEO’s such as Asia or Latam. Google algorithms still value quantity there I wouldn’t do such backlinks for gambling though
