do only backlinks picked up by search console matter?

Gsc do not all the links you have. it is like reflects the sample links. It won't affect the ranking.

For all those who are saying GSC don't matter. Are you sure about that? Isn't GSC a direct subsidiary of Google indexing bot. So if Google bot indexes something, GSC should show it.
Or am I wrong in that impression.
Totally agree with your point. GSC provides the count of backlinks recognized by google which has an influence in your Site's searching ranking. GSC doesn't shows the links right away. They might be a delay before it appears in GSC.

Yes, you should care about backlinks shows in GSC, wait for some time for all links to get indexed.

i have spent the last couple months building some links for my website and when i do a backlink check with semrush, we have a good amount of backlinks, however when i look in google search console it says we only have 2 links to our site, are the links in GSC the only ones that give my website authority or do the others matter too? if this is the case will i need to wait for google scrape the links till they have any effect?
Google Search Console shows some of your website's important links, but it might not catch all of them. Other tools like SEMrush might report more. Sometimes, it takes a while for Google to notice and count new links. Just make sure your links are from trustworthy sites and focus on creating good content. Both Google Search Console and other tools give useful information, so keep an eye on both for a complete picture of your website's links.

Backlinks that are indexed matter most. GSC in most cases, doesn't bother about every link. So, indexed links matter most.
I am using RankerX to build web 2.0 and other backlinks, can you tell me how I know backlinks are indexed? How do you go about it?

I you want to check manually one by one then you try with

site:exampledomain.com

If you want a bulk checker then try searching "google index checker" in Google.

Ok got it.

For example, if I want to check if the link that I have created on x website is indexed I should put the entire link? or just that domain.

Site:x.com/page-1

Like this?

In the visible index (site:...) the link may not be there if the site has lost its ranking, or it is too small. But the page may be indexed all the same.
If the site does not prohibit caching, you can try to look at once in the Google cache your page, type in the search bar cache:domain.com/page-1.html.

If the page is found in the cache, you will see whether your link is on this version of the page or not and when Google last indexed this page.
