Why am I not the first result?

Hey guys,

Just a question: I've been on the 4rd spot for my main keyword for a really long time now, and I can't seem to get any higher.

I did lots of link building, link wheels and everything. Other websites I created (purely for backlinks) are at position 7,9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, 18 and much more in other pages. None of them are nofollow and have the keyword as a backlink (multiple times on some pages).

According to the iwebtool backlinkchecker, I have 1209 backlinks, the first one has only 77, the 2nd one is the same website, but has only 3 links, while the 3rd one has 69 backlinks.

The first 2 results don't have the keyword in the url, the 3rd one has the keyword as domain. I have it as somethingelse.com/keyword.

My onsite optimalisation is all good, H1 tags, title, description, density..

The first result has a PR2, the main site has a PR1.
2nd website has PR1
3rd has PR4
Mine (4rd) has PR2, main site has PR2 too.

Now, the only good thing the 1st website has, is that it's almost 6 years old, while my domain is "only" almost 3 years old. The 3rd result is almost 2 years old.

If you ask me, I'd say I'm supposed to be 1st (or maybe 2nd, after the website that's on the 3rd result now). Your thoughts? How can I get higher? :D

Get a link or post article from the following websites and it should do the trick:

1)Youtube.com

2)ehow.com

3)Blogspot.com

4)Ezinearticles.com

5)Suite101.com

6)articlebase.com

7)facebook.com

8)hubpages.com

9)associatedcontent.com

10)wordpress.com

That's it!

Youtube is nofollow, article pages probably won't accept my content since it's not English (forgot to include, sorry) , I already have Blogspot, Facebook and Wordpress.com links.

:D

I'm not exactly competing for the domain, it's just that one page that has something to do with that keyword.

But my website has 1640 indexed pages, #1&2 have 191, #3 has 4 pages.

domain name = primary keyword will boost your SERP. what is your site?

Gefrr,

Here's a Secret that not a lot of people know:

If you leave a link on your Youtube Channel Page it DOES count as a DO FOLLOW link!

I personally have done this, and I went from page 80 to page 1, position number 8 in 1 day, and stayed there.

Sorry, not giving my site. I'll try the YouTube link, but it won't give me the right keyword as the link, so I doubt it'll get me to the first results.. :)

Hi Gefrr,

Bobbylove321 just gave you some good advice. The reason you are not
number 1 is because you are not following it. He/she even gave you the
priority order. Don't forget to use the k/wrds you want to rate for as
anchor text. Good luck.

Well, the reason I'm not following the advice is mostly because they don't apply to me, or are done before. Like I said, I will try the YouTube link (and I've done that now), but most of these websites only allow English articles, which would be useless for me..

The secret no one really tells you is that relevant backlinks have so much more power than irrelevant ones.

This is the google bot thinking upon reaching a page you posted a link on. For this example your site will be about Mortgages.

Alright, that page I just crawled is about baby milk. Time to follow the outbound links, OK we have one pointing to another site about baby milk, that's cool. Now we have one pointing to a site about baby clothes, that's relevant. Ok, what's this? A site about mortgages? Psh. That's not relevant. Discard.

Those 77 backlinks that site has are without a doubt worth more than your 1200. The low number indicates that they're either very well placed by the webmaster (Unlikely) or they were linked to naturally therefore giving pretty much every link natural relevance.

I thought about that too, and yes, my site has some (lots of) backlinks that might not be that relevant..

But some other websites I made are on the first 2 pages of the same result. You'd think that they would be considered relevant, or am I thinking wrong now?

True, but pagerank does have a part to play in rankings. What kind of PR do your other sites have?
What kind of backlinks has the site got? Is it spam (and by that I mean mass posting) or is it genuine linking by webmasters for the benefit of their users?

They're probably all PR0 (perhaps a 1, but I guess not).. They are mostly web2.0 websites linked as a double linkwheel, but I wouldn't say it's spam..

I just thought they'd give pretty good linkjuice, since they rank so good. So basically, what you're saying is: More "real" links will probably do the trick?

check your competitor's backlinks and then match them. You probably need more authority links - relevant websites, with high pr that rank high in search engines. Just buy them.
