Banned Domain

Just wanted to ask a question about the topic, it hasn't actually happened yet.

When a domain gets blacklisted or banned, whatever it is where you stop getting traffic.

Say I use a subdomain as my lander domain. Does the sub get banned/blacklisted or will the root domain be the target?

Wondering because I want to setup a blog on a root domain and then use a sub for landers to keep this certain project contained.

everyone bans differently. If, your subdomain does something that google doesn't like they might kick only that subdomain out of the SERPs while keeping your domain intact. But if they manually review your domain and they don't like something about it they could manually penalize your entire domain + all sub-domains, but this is rare, I've actually not heard of a single case, but theoretically it can happen.

But if you're referring to different companies / forums / sites / whatever, then those can (and probably do) have their own rules, if you find someone madly pissed at you and at your site they could ban your entire business from their site if they don't like you.

It really depends on which site / whatever does the banning...

Once you get a GSB flag (google safe browsing) it usually will spread. Can be a few hours up to a few days.

Domains are dirt cheap these days. Would not risk to get a blog banned just for saving a dollar or less.

Once you run push and/or pop traffic in higher volumes there is a high probability that you will get a GSB. The red monster sometimes comes out of nowhere

Will a linked domain also get flagged? I'm guessing no cuz then it would flag the offer domain also, right? Essentially I want to send push/native traffic to a whitehat lander but also be able to link them into a blog for a more long term approach of building an email list and seo. You know like text linking in an advertorial to send them to relevant blog page about the vertical where I can possible collect emails, have adsense, sell banner space, etc. I'm sure this will cut down on initial conversions for the offer I'm trying to promote but thinking about the future. It's an evergreen industry.

I know this is very unconventional for push/native campaigns but I'm putting my brain to work for creating a long term project.

It does happen that offer domains get flagged. Most networks have that under control or replace domains early enough.

Is up to you how much risk you want to take... as I said... domains are dirt cheap these days.... actually a no brainer.
