YT premium works under gmail, I think the trial account still works in the US

Free trial with VCC seems the way to go ..it may cost lower as you can even use a free vcc at no cost at all , only swap when ever subscription ends and dont top up the vcc incase you dont want to inccur costs but if you want to pay then you can
 
Besides purchasing the subscription connecting to a different country nope, student plan requires a anual verification and make it kind of hard for the info they might require unless you know someone who is a student in your country and he or she hand over the proof to you and you give it to youtube.
 
Do you really need youtube premium when you have brave browser?

its only 12$ a month - hardly a bank breaker
 
Using a VPN to subscribe from a region with cheaper rates is an option, but it's important to comply with YouTube's terms of service to avoid any issues.

Take an Indian VPN and buy it in INR. Costs 249 INR for 5 users (family members... they can have their own email). In USD its like $3/month.
