Are Instagram engagement groups still work in 2024?

I am working with travel niche and in process of creating strategy for IG account. I know in the past engagement groups were a great way to get some free likes / followers for new accounts. Do they still work in 2024?

have hard that instagram can detect likes from engagement groups. well i have never used them there are better methods than EG

It's good for social proof but doesn't effect the algorithm like it used to

I never used such groups for engagements. I prefer ads or boosting posts for engagement.
Ads perform well and it will give a nice boost to increase engagement and overtime followers.

It was helpful in old days, but they're not as effective now. It's better to focus on creating good content and connecting with your audience naturally for long-term growth.
