been using Bluehost for a while now and since a lot has changed since I started the subscription around 10 years ago, I'm wondering if there are better alternatives

at the time I started using Bluehost they had these perks for the shared hosting plan:

1. Unlimited Storage (no SSD)
2. Unlimited Bandwidth
3. Good Support
4. Unlimited Subdomains
5. Unlimited Domains
6. Unlimited emails

above restricted to fair use

I use hostarmanda, and the customer service, along with their first-year pricing, is outstanding. They don't allow any site, but you can contact them. I know people also use WPX, and there is some good hosting here in BHW.
Can vouch for the WPX. The site doesn't slow down at those peak traffic scenarios. If you don't have the budget, then you can go for Hostinger. I am using it for my site, it's good for the price, and yes customer service is not prompt but I had issues recently, they have definitely improved their response times.

What are you trying to host? I'm using the most basic HostKoala and paying 2.50 a month for a bunch of different blogs. For more advance sites i buy a VPS.

Bluehost has been a popular choice, but there are alternatives with competitive features. Consider platforms like SiteGround, A2 Hosting, or HostGator, which offer SSD storage, good support, and similar unlimited features. Assess your current needs, compare pricing, and read recent reviews to determine which hosting provider aligns best with your requirements.

I use wpx.net for smaller wp sites as it comes with cdn integrated, and their support is top notch.

I have some bigger sites on cloudways and Liquidweb as well.

For me, zipservers.com hosting works great. You get plenty options, plenty of space and usage and at a great value.
