Couldn’t really find the answer on Google, found an opportunity to easily rank #2 - #3 for a competitors branded keyword - but caveat the keyword is just “${ company name }” so not the usual product branded keyword stuff. Can this get me any traffic? The company name is doing upwards of 3,000 in search a month?

Company is already ranking at first position with official website. There is no benefit of ranking second or third in this case.

So it would get no traffic at all? I’m only considering it because it would literally be no effort to get #2 after analyzing it. The 2nd and 3rd spots are pages I can displace in minutes.

Number 2 for any keywords would always get some traffic but it'll be much smaller than number 1. It'll even be worse in your case where the main brand is at number 1.

Why do you even want to target such keyword?

So the idea was to provide some info on the page about the actual brand (mostly to satisfy Google), but to honestly just have a basic creative almost lander to pipe them through to the actual company ranking for #1 but just this time I can get some affiliate cheese from it?

it sounds like you reconsidering targeting keywords that may not have as much traffic as the top ranking ones if the main brand is already at number 1 u re exploring the idea of creating a landing page to redirect users to the top ranking compny potentially earning affiliate commissions this strategy could work but its essential to assess the compettitivveness and relevance of the keywords additionally consider providing valuable content on the landing pagr to enhance user experience

Then give it a shot. Just know that fewer people would land on your page than would land on the first page. But since your page would provide more information about the company, then it just might work out and earn you some commission.

Whether the earned commission would make the entire process profitable is what I don't know.

My opinion on this would be, While ranking for your competitor's name might bring some visitors, it's better to build your own brand with original content to avoid ethical issues and negative reactions.
