Hello fellow bhw members,

I have a newbie question that I coudln't find a full answer anywhere on bhw.

I have many domains, relevant to my niche, some of them have keywords in them which I want to rank and some are expired domains with +30, +50 DA and have thousands of referring domains coming to them. I would like to build a site for each of these domains, since I already own them.

My question is specifically about hosting, if I let's say purchase a VPS from hostinger and then just create 20-30 websites on that one IP address, will it not work properly? Does each site have to be on their own unique ip in order to properly use them as a backlink?

Once again, my goal is to use all these domains that I have and create a niche-tailored website for each one of them, with the purpose of using them to link to my main website which I am trying to rank.

Also, what are the pitfalls of doing this? How do I maximize my effectiveness of these domains as they are already have a lot of niche-backlinks coming to them as is and the domains are .coms that literally have the keyword in them.

It very detailed procedure of creating them with minmal foot print better hire someone's

Check out this post for a lot of PBN related info: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/the-ultimate-pbn-guide.1360359/

If you're hosting all your sites on one VPS you'll want some way of masking that they're on the same IP, which will come down to reverse proxies like Cloudflare. Not really recommended for anything at scale. Many small accounts with cloud providers and a central system like RunCloud would be better.

Yes, each of the PBN website should have its unique IP,
And not just the IP, the hosting provider, location, etc...

What about shared hosting? I mean thousands of sites are coming from the same IP, how does that work in this case? How does google handle such websites? Or is shared hosting bad for ranking? (apart from the fact that they're slow)

There are a lot of providers even here on bhw that offer shared hosting for really cheap, I could easily give each domain its website using these. How do I leave as small footprint as possible? If i make two websites on one shared host, is it bad? Or is all of this just speculation as only google knows how its algorythm works?

We have a 1500 site pbn and used to host them on 200 separated hosting companies. What a complete nightmare that was to administer. Every day sites would go down, hosts would disappear or even get bought over by hosts that we already had. We had 5 sites / host max and made sure the subject of the sites were different so if / when used to link, they would not target the same site from the same host. We sonce moved to proper digital pr for our link earning (as the company grew) so thank god we dont have that problem any more. The leftover sites we just host on a few cloud services like google, aws and vultur and use cloudflare anyway on them.

Also worth checking this hosting experiment out: https://www.rebootonline.com/blog/long-term-shared-hosting-experiment/

Yes but these "thousands of sites" do not link to eachother.

I also recommend different hosting providers, different /16 IPv4 networks etc.

Think about linking to your money site. If all of your links come from a single IP address, then it's highly likely to be owned by the same person, and that's a huge footprint.

Also, be careful with super cheap shared hosts. You get what you pay for, especially if the company is small or hasn't been established for a reasonable amount of time. Cheap, in the hosting world, is almost always a bad thing.

Shared hosting, in general, is a relatively good choice for diversity, but managing everything can be a massive headache. VPS is nice but expensive and difficult to manage without experience. Using Cloudflare for some of your websites is also a reasonable thing to do. The key is diversity, and since Cloudflare is so popular, it makes sense to include it.

It's not about hosting the same websites in the same host,
you can host an unlimited number of domains/websites in the same host as long as the server can maintain them,

the problem is that the same IP/Hosting is a big footprints for a PBN,
it's easily to spot that 30 websites hosted in the exact same host/IP, all linking to the exact same website is an actual PBN,

you should read a couple of detailed blog posts/threads about what a PBN is and how to setup & hide it properly,
the one shared above by @Steptoe is a good one to start with ^^

Search engines consider websites hosted on the same IP address as related, which could impact the effectiveness of the backlinks.

What if... Instead of "PBN" I take a more whitehat approach?

I don't create websites for "link juice", I instead create sites to drive traffic from them to the money site?

Example: my money site is dog related, I want to rank for specific keyword "dog food" and I create a website called healthydogfood . otld and it's all about healthy dog food and in the blog it links to my money site about healthy dog food. The site would be informative/useful content. The idea is that website would be targeting a very specific low competition niche keyword and would try to rank it for it, then divert traffic to my money site.

Technically speaking would this still be considered a PBN?

The point is, i already own the domains, the tld's itself are the keyword i want to rank for and their name alone has very good future prospects. I wouldn't mind creating whole websites just on them, but still my intention is to boost my moneysite.

Yes, it's still technically a "PBN".

PBNs don't have to be a bunch of sketchy sites that you build only to build links to your website. It is absolutely a reasonable thing to do to rank your PBN sites, and through that, the link will be even more powerful.
The higher the quality of your website network, the better.

We always recommend quality over quantity, as we have seen people with 50 high quality domains outrank a site that uses ~150 PBN domains. Also, in the end, it's cheaper to build and manage a few high quality sites than hundreds of low quality sites.

If it's just a few websites, must I choose such expensive precautions still? I read the guide, which was extremely informative in the first reply of this thread and I can't afford such an expensive network.

If I were to only make ~10 sites, can't I simply purchase hosts on 5-10 different companies? Also, what if all of the domains are registered on the same provider?

It always makes sense to be careful.

You may want to take a look at the BHW marketplace for service providers that can provide such service: https://www.blackhatworld.com/forums/hosting.196/
Depending on the provider, hosting ten websites on unique IP addresses can cost about $30 a month (with some a bit less, with some a bit more.. depending on the provider and your needs).

The key for PBNs or website networks in general is diversity. Unique service providers, unique registrars, unique WHOIS records, etc.

I wouldn't recommend you take shortcuts because shortcuts are never beneficial in the long term. Start small and grow as you go to keep your budget under control. You don't need to buy everything you need for 10 sites when you only have a single site ready.

Then you may want to check Google for a PBN hosting provider that can guarantee you different IP or dedicated IPs. Also, it is not advisable to use the same provider for all your sites registration

there are many guides that provide such ways
or also just buy pbn domains from sellers

public blog networks can also be found in the marketplace, you just need some money

Of the technical issues that affect whether PBN boosts money site or not are IP addresses.
PBNs must stand on different IP addresses. My tests show that if you put 40 PBNs on 1 IP address then the money site boost is small, and after migrating those PBNs to different IP addresses -> money site gets a boost.
