Outrank Wikipedia?

Its just too many times that I see those wikipedia pages at the top spots, but I wanted to know how hard is it to outrank those?

I mean those pages are not only PR5+ but also enjoy google's trust, any reason not to give up when you see the wiki page at the front page of google?

Man i've been wondering the same thing. You obviously hate seeing huge authority sites at the top of the rankings, but if the page that is coming up isn't targeted just right for seo, is it possible to beat them?

You have to look at how the pages are designed. They have the keywords in Title, URL, Headings, sub headings.. h1, h2, h3...

their pages are built simple, but very easy for SE to crawl and rank

Well who doesn't hate wikipedia here? Its a huge site that tag all outgoing links with nofollow tag in order to keep all the page rank to itself.

Obama should have included in his bill the forced distribution of page rank as well. That's social justice, don't you think?

Hard to outrank them from popular "encyclopedic" phrases. It's possible for things like facts, names etc - good if you've got some authority links to your site, and it's dedicated to certain keyword/niche.

What about non encyclopedic phrases?
I have seen many 3 keywords+ wikipedia pages about subjects that normally wouldn't appear in the average encyclopedia. They are simply trying to dominate as many keywords as possible with their nofollow trick.

Yeah, sure they are. It's really hard to outrank them for encyclopedic phrases, but it's possible for non-encyclopedic ones. You have to build mini-authority site targeting 3words+ keyword (and get some good links - not spammy ones only)
