Google traffic drop-off...What happened?!

OK, I am still getting the hang of this stuff, but this one has me baffled...

I launched an autoblog that somehow hit the 5th spot on Google for a somewhat popular keyword literally overnight...I got almost 200 hits the first two days all coming from Google for that one keyword...

Two days later, the traffic is down from 100/day to 20. And the 20 have been coming from onlywire posts, not Google. Statpress seems to show that everyone literally stopped searching for my keyword.

It looks something like this:

12:04 keyword search
12:34 k.s.
13:12 k.s.
etc, etc, then....
17:54 k.s.
19:12 k.s.
23:01 k.s.

and they just keep getting more and more spread out, and now I am barely getting any searches! The site is still the same place in Google when I search though...Any ideas? It is an autoblog that I backdated about 25 posts too, if that makes a difference...

Sounds like high bouncerate issues to me, check your google analytics logs & see if the bouncerate for the keyword is high, if it is, theres your problem.

Sure, it is a cycled drop-off. You need to up your new content to atleast something new every day. It doesn't matter if it is a blog update or a couple of articles from a directory that you post your comment about and share from an original post of another author...

You have to keep your content daily, every 24 hours, solid. The average spider is set to cycle your site with a 72 hours setting, where a bot will crawl and update your newest content data. The thing they don't tell you is that if you post every day, they will monitor it with a 72 hours crawl and then update it to meet the need/load of your content data requirement.

Google will then shift you to a more frequent crawl, every 48 hours and if your posts are massive enough, every 24 hours. I've never heard nor seen them do more tighter than 24 hours cycles though.

They do this for ebay, facebook and other sites that are user-content driven. They do the same thing for article and blog directories. The reason is that people post so much content that they have to crawl it more frequently to keep up with the data record, to keep their system as up to date as possible. It may not always show up for a day or two in the results, due to when the servers get the data out of que and into your google profile for your site/domain in the search results.

Check this out for yourself. If you have an account in facebook or twitter, you can instantly go to google and search for fb.com + your profile or twitter + your profile and it will show the results of your posts and such.

This will show you how fast you can post and have it listed. This is also an outstanding way to ping your profile in searches for promoting your site through your own wall.

well it means they view one page of your site and then just leave... or "bounce" you need to find a way to make them view more pages to lower the bouncerate.

OK, well the site is an autoblog, so there are content updates...and I have about 2.5 page views per visitor...

I am not sure how a high bouncerate effects how many people initially come to your site though...???

This has never happened with any of my other blogs :/

Kasle... look at google analytics. Keep in mind that every single thing it counts possibly affects your rankings and traffic. From

*Time on site (probably a big factor)
*Bounce Rate (this is a big factor)
*Loading speed of your pages (this is a big factor)
*Percent of new visits (probably not a factor)
*Pages per visit (probably a big factor)
*Statistics of the "Top exit Pages" (no idea what the hell that means but probably not a big factor)

And then of course there's all kinds of other crap google uses
