I've messaged him actually, and still not sure what he does to boost rankings. I've checked traffic, favorites, even backlinks and there's been no change. Yet product still ranks.

How do you know that the listing ranks? Are there any increase in sales or visits?

my listings are on first page + crazy volume. no external traffic or backlines. no idea how its done BTS

They probably have some bot that searches for your product with a specific keyword and finds it. So internal traffic driven to your listings. Did you get an increase of favorites to your listing or shop?

i didn't see a huge spike in traffic/view, though. favorites starting rolling in when it hit the first page. since being on first page, i had my first 20k week

Yeah, would also like to know what exactly he does to make it work... it can't be just mass of visits from bots or something (used to work well on ebay).

I haven't found any. If someone knows about a way to to check the product analytics, I'd like to know, as well.

I think the only thing you can do is to purchase the service and watch as it climbs.
Usually etsy gives you all kinds of metrics so if you compare before vs after the boost, probably you can find what was done and replicate it.
