Has anyone done any tests on 301s?

I have a site that is growing well in the travel niche and earning some $ but id be tempted try some tests on it. For example I have found a domain with only a couple of links about a hotel in Vietnam. i would create a page about this hotel and redirect that BBC link to my site.

I was reading there is no limit to 301s, rather what matters is the 301 relevant.

I wonder if i could do this 20 times to 20 pages and retain links from the top websites in the world.

The good thing about these links which easy is to find is that they only contain sometimes 3 or 4 backlinks which means no issues of spammy links pointing to the page.

Excessive redirects always raises red flags.

All the times that I've had to do redirects it's usually a single domain getting redirected. But if you redirect upto 20 domains to 20 pages on your website it could raise red flags.

On one of my niche sites there's a competitor that has upto 5 redirects but his site is very big and well established so may not have issues but for a smaller blog, I can't tell.

Wouldn't it be better to find the original text via Google Cache and create the page with links to your site?

I personally use this method for my sites. I have redirected two expired domain and a few of their pages to my domain that have got decent backlinks from big authority websites.

I am still in the testing mode and seeing some positive results. However, I need to wait as only a couple of weeks passed.

Still, I have seen a couple of sites that are doing this actively and are ranking high in the SERPs. So, this method is 100% working if the expired domain has good backlinks.

I've tested this before but it wasn't very useful.

yes it works for sure... the question is for how many redirects can you get away with
