Optimise images without Optimising Images :)

Hi bhw fam,

Okay so I have a movie streaming website and everytime I import a tv show a whole lot of images come with it for all the episodes. Now my problem is that the images are being imported at a large size and also in jpg format.

Is there any plugin that will compress all images or make them webp for example without me having to go optimise them 1 by 1 myself?

Would help a lot as it has really slowed down my site.

did you try the usual suspects (shortpixel, smush.it, ewww image optimizer)?? I remember having done this a few years ago, but I don't remember what I used

Just try one of those... or you can google for stuff like "bulk image optimization plugin" or "automated image compression plugin" etc...

exactly your are right, let me add one more suitable plugin in it that is imagify
which can optimize and reduce the size of the images much less and very Good in use. I have used the imagify for it and found it very useful

can it do it automatically and in bulk, though? Because that'\s what OP is asking for...

Make sure that your server can handle webp images. Incredible as it sounds, many servers still do not handle webp.

If you upload a webp image to your server and when you link to it you can see it, it does NOT mean that the server manages webp. That means that the browser does. Only a little advice so there are no surprises.

If you are on a VPS or similar, then please disregard this comment.

Smush pro have all of the options you need

• bulk optimize pictures
• auto optimize pictures after uploading
• resize the pics to a max width & height
• convert to webp

You can download the pro version somewhere for free,

The only concern that would be is if it's going to work with the script you're using to upload these pics and posting the movies/posts,
You can even run a python script (or some other script) to optimize all of the new pics in the uploads folder automatically

Thank you for that! how does it work exactly? it deletes the old images and imports them in webp format? also did you experience any problems while using it like missing images etc? Thank you!

Also try to use lazy loading and intersection observer when it`s needed
