Sudden Ahrefs DR Drop!

I have a website started in late 2021. Earlier this summer I started buying backlinks from one of the providers here, I was not seeing any increase in DR until I talked to the guy and he said they will put the backlinks on indexer or something.
Two weeks after that DR increased from 2 to 37 and now, it is down to 2 again.
Can someone explain this to me?

Else those links are mediocre links that have lost their value maybe due to update in Ahrefs algorithm.

I guess as I haven't lost much quality backlinks over the past month. So these mediocre backlinks is the only explanation? What should I do in your opinion?

Have a look at the referring domains to see what domains are linking to your website.
You can identify the quality of links that way.

Alternatively, you can check MOZ spam score for these domains just for idea although I don't trust this metric much.

Also check the anchors.

What should I do in your opinion?

If these are low quality links remove them if possible or disavow the links.
Then build quality links relevant to your website niche.

I guess the vendor has just deleted the links to your website after three months. Common practice. Ahrefs DR is a useless metric anyway, unless you want to sell backlinks to buyers who believe in DR value LOL

There was a technical problem. I upgraded my server last month and since then Ahrefs was getting a 403 forbidden error on many links on my website. I guess this is the only reason for the sudden drop.

Your DR boost was likely due to those indexed backlinks, but Ahrefs can spot these unnatural spikes. It's better to focus on quality, organic backlinks for stable growth. Quick fixes don't last in SEO.
