So if the company is not represented in the google directory as a company it's gonna have a lower rating, right?

Yes Google reviews are important regards business listing results. However keep in mind for most of the competitive searches they are now also sponsored results which means no matter how many genuine reviews you have you will not be at the top as these are taken by sponsored local business listings.

Yep, Genuine review from GMB ( Which holds Keywords) will be considered as a ranking Factor

Genuine GMB reviews are a key factor but it works with all others in conjunction, for instance, knowledge graph, Wikipedia pages, as well as GMB rating as how BART and BERT scores you on satisfying the core customer intent of your users vis-a-vis your competition.
If you ignore the GMB part, you might be doing your business a disservice.
