Heyo

I have a promotion gig running and I bought a domain for it, the 3rd party will link users to this domain (people will usually type it in browser usually themselves, this is why short domain is important)

My question is, does anyone know how to track the visits and etc for these users?

Domain4thirdparty.com is redirected to mywebsite.com, users entering Domain4thirdparty.com will come to my website and I want to know how can I tract the exact number of users and preferably dissect traffic quality. Ex: page browsed per user etc...

I have control of both domains btw, so I can put anything to 301.

How do I install google analytics on a domain that has no website and its entire purpose is to be a redirect?

Can I somehow create trackers for this website? I mean I can redirect to any url; so if people type website.com they will be redirected to redirected.com/tracker%abc

That I cannot help you with, maybe someone with more experience can step in and answer this one

Anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps just use google analytics and be done with it?

Will it show up that people typed in site.com and not just direct link?

Hello! You should get an ads tracker. You park your third-party domain to it and create a campaign for it that will redirect visitors to your final domain. The tracker will then track and redirect every visit, and you'll have all stat data on it.

There are software products for that called trackers, e.g. Binom, Keitaro, Peerclick, Voluum, and many others.

Ad trackers / conversion trackers / CPA trackers. Search along these lines.
