i was thinking about this same point, yesterday. But no free trial and the price seems bit higher for this earlier version
Yeah you have to go from ) subscription to full Premium+ to be able to have access to it. No direct access to upgrade from Premium to Premium+ without first unsubscribing from premium which no one wants to risk, particularly after having monetization enabled.
Fuck that shit, I m becoming a farmer.
??? Going to use grok to farm accounts?
I think most people are missing Grok's advantage: Interacting and learning from Tesla sensors and interfacing with their robots.
How will that be useful exactly? What will be the use-case scenarios with this?
This is the best death humanity could hope for. Where every decision made is powered by billions of mindless Twitter opinions. I love it.
A twitter death for a twit society
You forget X now has something called community notes, which is actually doing a good job of exposing falsehood without censoring speech. Besides, humanity's advance in civilization has been enabled by crowdsourcing. Take BHW for instance. A massive resource of crowdsourced information that everyone can access.
You're saying that a guy that bought a company that was worth ~36b for 44b and now the company lost more than 50% of it's value will be successful in running the AI because has data for this company?

Elon Musk is a disaster, man.
I also can't think of a worst enviroment to train a GPT than a social network like X.
I know there is this default "I dislike Elon Musk" approach by a lot of folks for no clear reason. For me though, its strictly business. Like it or not, X.com is making many content creators make good money. Besides, your tale is old news now. If you are active on X, you have to admit, it has become a goldmine. Every current metric on X is up.Most advertisers that stopped are back, X revenue has improved, impressions improved, valuable verified users determined, account numbers have increased, breakneck innovations added almost every other day. in actual fact, X has added more features in one year than the old twitter did in several. So I beg to differ, i strongly disagree.
As per whether a social media environment is a good space to train a GPT on - I would say it depends on your expected outcome, besides the fact that it is not trained exclusively on social media content. grok seems to be deigned to be playful and jocular - a feature quite desirable for realistic conversational botting. My take though.
Grok is cool I being checking all the screnshots of people asking weird things and getting the more cringe responses ever I being laughing so hard, but I Crok is most a joke at this point so people can mess around with it and have fun.
This is precisely what I think makes it interesting - it can make a lot of people laugh and then inspire conversation, which converts to impressions which converts to a payday.
Elon Musk is trying to get into everything. I think he likes adventure.
When you have a lot of money, a lot of people bring their ideas to you. You do not need to be brilliant anymore, you can just soak up the best ideas and incubate them with the idea generator, or without them. In this case, he started with Sam Altman of OpenAI, and they parted ways, and he decided to do his own since he has the money to tempt away all the best engineers from everywhere. Its just the power of having a lot of cash to play with.
