Where to check keywords

Google ad planner is one of the best and most accurate free ways to do so,
It has no option to check the estimate KW difficulty tho, you'll have to check manually,

Ahrefs keyword generator has a free option as well, but it's limited to 100 suggested keywords and no filters, etc...
You can also use Semrush group buys and trial accounts, they only cost a couple of dollars and there are plenty of sellers out there

You can either use Ahrefs keyword generator to get an estimate (https://ahrefs.com/keyword-generator),
It's not quiet accurate tho, i prefer Semrush for this,

Or check the SERPs for this targetted keyword, by checking the top sites authority, pages, links to the main domain and the page itself,
You can use Ahrefs free backlink checker for this (https://ahrefs.com/backlink-checker/),

But yet, if you're dealing with a big number of keywords, it would be a better idea to get Semrush,
You can literally get it for $2-3 from group buys and save a ton of time

Free keyword research tools like Google Keyword Planner, Ubersuggest, and Google Keyword Planner. Ubersuggest offers data on search volume, CPC, and suggests keywords. For sometimes, I use free tool as https://www.wordtracker.com/
This might be helpful for you
 
Try using ahrefs and semrush. But it has a limitations for free keywords search.
 
If you want 100% free then Ubersuggest, otherwise you can opt for SEMrush Trial plan.

Apart from looking at the already there results in SERPS, and wondering if you could do better than them, I don't think there is any realistic way except to build a site, make it a good one, and compete directly in the marketplace.
 
There are many free tools but best is google Keyword planner. Otherwise the other options for keyword research are Uber suggested, Answer the public,Keyword surfer (chrome extention),Soovle and Yandex wordstat .
 
For accurate results you can try out Ahrefs and Semrush.
