Good luck OP. Don't get discouraged if you aren't getting enough views, the channel will go up if you keep posting regularly, that's youtube #1 rule.
YouTube shorts won't make you a lot as the RPM is low ( 5-7 cents last time I checked ).
A good strategy would be to create long-form videos and promote them using shorts

Yes you are right and I'm doing my best to post every day I'll focus only on shorts for the moment until I get 1000 subs then I'll post my first long video so at least there will be some viewers and if the retention is good hopefully YouTube will push it to a wider audience

I stayed away from affiliates my entire life, I know you can make money from that but at the same time you are making a lot of effort to sell someone else's products I would rather build my own product and sell it instead. That's actually what I focused on in the past few years.

I noticed YouTube algorithm might ignore some of your videos when you post them but they will be picked up after 2 or 3 days

Thank you! I'm also interested in TikTok but since the creator funds program is not available in Canada, I still don't see why I would do TikTok. I know it is a good source of traffic and I can send it to a lot of things but what I want is the money to be linked to only one site and one metric like YouTube views = money. I hate it when the chain is long (views + click the link + signup + buy something = money).
As you mentioned I heard that story of consistency and I need to publish a lot to get noticed by YouTube so what I will do is stick to 1 video a day at least I'm going to do most of the videos during the weekends and see how it goes 1 month from now if there is progress and double that to like 2 videos per week.

Hi OP, I read your post and updates as well. I created Shorts channel but I have no idea that my 2 first videos just got 3x views. Maybe from my location? I come from Asian country and would like to make shorts videos having views from US, UK and etc. Make sure that my videos are 100% English.

Shorts channel 5 months : 1490 subs / 94 videos
Long channel : 1 month /56subs / 8 videos

From my experience, all I can advise you is to post more frequently to try to get into the algorithm.

Well, I'm not sure how YouTube distributes the shorts especially if you don't have subs yet but I'm assuming it is the same as TikTok so if you are from an Asian country 80% of the audience is going to be from Asia, looking at my stats so far 53% are from the US around 30% are from Canada and then comes India and other countries. I'm based in Canada so I think it makes sense.
