How to avoid affiliate charge backs

Hello everyone,
I am considering offering an affiliate program for my software product, but I want to understand how businesses avoid 'bad actor' affiliates. I imagine if an affiliate wanted to milk the system they could simply apply to be an affiliate, create bots or use misleading marketing to drive lots of affiliate purchases. Then once the affiliates are paid their commission, have the purchasers request a refund or credit card chargeback. In this case, no net profits would be realized but you would still be out the commission that was paid out.

Anyone familiar with this space that can comment on this?

You should offer affiliate commissions through an intermediary like ClickBank or DigiStore, they have regulations in place to protect against fraud: Net30 payments, advanced fraud preventions and KYC for affiliates.

No i didn't but most of the big companies that give big commissions have their affiliate programs through ShareASale.
I know this because i use ShareASale to promote affiliate offers
