Very old domain: would you retain?

I picked this domain back in 2004, and is probably nowadays my oldest domain that has not expired.
I used it for around 10 years as a business email but never created a web other than some internal sites for an intranet on top of that

The thing is that I set to expire next December, and today I checked the WHOIS to see that it is from 2004 (I could not remember it was that old)

What would you do with it? Keep it? Leave it for useless?
Have you left expire domains this or even older than this in the last years?

The domain itself is not like x.com. It is like a carbrandcity.com style. Like toyotaindianapolis.com, and it's 100% unlikely that the toyota dealers in indianapolis could be interested or whatever.
So its all about longevity with such domain, and personally I don't even think that longevity isn't key anymore for anything.

sounds like a trademarked domain, I'd ditch it to get rid of future headaches....

not as old as yours, but I did leave several of them expire in the last years. I've acquired a decently expired domain some 6-7 years ago, but never used it for anything, I just renewed it 1 year at a time for like 4-5 years and last year I let it expire as I was never going to use it. It had a very cool name, though (actually, that's why I held onto it for so long)...

EDIT: well what do you know, the domain had been grabbed by someone and turned into an AI content site! Apparently it was a good domain ... Oh well...

few guys around the forum (Nargil being one of them) have said numerous times that domain age doesn't matter for anything, so yeah...

Over the past decade I've been checking this, so basically its already dead in terms of emailing.

The only special interesting thing here is that it has never changed hands. It an authentic very old domain I purchased back in the day and I have not let expire because of the email

Also important to note that until last year I had this super ancient offer of free Google workspace for 50 users in this domain but they ended deprecating such. This is why I never left it expire

I understand but if you're not going to use it (and since age doesn't matter), you have no need for it. Just let it expire... and watch someone else grab it immediately, just like they did with my domain LOL

You are right.

I think you should try building a blog with it and see how it goes. I do not completely believe that old domains are no longer useful. I trust that if a good website is built with old and clean domains and a good backlinking is done then it stands a chance of earning good traffic in due course of time.

If some traffic and revenue comes then you can sell it for few $$$. It is better to do this rather than letting the domain expire for nothing.
