Blog Post URL to fall into silo directory?

I think I read the idea here a few months ago. I'm siloing my website and creating a blog.
I'd like to silo my blog posts into the related silo. I think someone posted there was a way to do that?
ie. www.animals.com/cats/ is the silo created with a page, and a ton of content on cats.
I want to make a blog post about cats so I want the post to be www.animals.com/cats/what-do-cats-eat/
I don't think i can add category /cats/ because I think there will be issues with the page /cats/

But I think someone once mentioned a way around that.
Or does anyone have a better idea?

if you're creating a category named CATS there is no point in also having a page named CATS. I think it can still be done in a safe manner, but I don't know it. But it's honestly no use in having a page and a category that are both named CATS.

A much better approach would be to keep the category named CATS, and then add sub-categories named... I don't know.... maybe something like:

- feeding
- training
- care
- health
etc...

And then you can put the post What do Cats Eat? in the Feeding sub-category... At least that's how I would do it

So would you not even use blog posts but just create pages in sub categories? Just wondering how hard it will be for google to find and give value when it's buried a few levels down vs having a blog page that lists posts so they stay close to home page.

I always use pages for categories and posts for blog posts. You can use pages as blog posts too, I don't think it matters from a SEO perspective, it's just how I do it...

Honestly, I don't know what to answer here, I can only guess and my guess is that it depends on the crawl budget that google has for your site, so I assume that if your site is popular and powerful enough they will crawl your pages in more depth, but I'm not sure... Really good question. Maybe someone else can tell us both
