Great Idea for quick content - need clarification

Hey,

I am just thinking if I bought a scanner, and then scanned

some books for content on whatever niche I was working on

then that would be a hella cool way to get "unique content"

and it would be very easy to find in an organized way. The thing

I am not sure about is, once I scan it on to my computer, can

I convert it to be like a text or word document? Sorry I am not

really in the scanner know how.

You can do that with OCR software, normally it comes with the scanner.

Cool, do you know what a good cheap scanner would cost

just to get the job done? I am guessing under $50 right?

These days you can pick up an all in one printer/scanner/fax combo for around $100 at WalMart, Target, etc.

These usually have some form of OCR built in, but expect to have to do some human editing as OCR technology still isn't too great. Just look at the Google Books project for an example.

Yea the combo will be cheap enough, but beware of the copyrights. Just use some public domain works =)
