Feedback needed from a SEO guru

Suppose I have unique content written in English. Does a translation of this unique content using Google translation tool have impact on SEO when I upload the translated articles on my website?

I have no doubt that the translated content with the Google translation tool will have some misspell, will this affect SEO? If so, does the Google algorithm appreciate it when I improve spelling manually?

Does it hurt from SEO perspective for Google, if the spelling of the translated content will be manually improved at a later time? For eg 4 weeks later after it was first uploaded?

Google doesnt care about spellings. However, you are missing the boat. I assume you are trying to get more then just traffic, right? I mean you want sales/conversions, repeat traffic etc to grow a business. You'll never get that with any thing translated automatically.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I want to generate more traffic which is the main purpose and not sales. It's just a question from SEO perspective whether my 'ideas' are achievable and how Google respond on it.

It is absolutely safe, but are you trying to ride off the alternate language market, by leveraging your existing site's PR value?

You won't get penalized by google at all, as you're not gaming the engine with duplicate content, but rather offering the same useful information, into another language medium.

Thanks for your feedback. As I have hundreds of articles to translate I will not be able to edit (misspelled words etc.) all the hundreds of articles after I have translate them through the google translation tool into several languages. In fact I will need a couple of weeks to go edit through them all. Will it be an issue for Google when the translated articles are misspelled in the meanwhile in terms of rankings? Will it decrease the ranking or will it not have significant influence?
