hye guys wondering how you check how many backlinks your site has. and how fast does it update? thanx

any idea how long it takes to update backlinks stats ?
yahoo is very fast
over one not as fast but sometimes yahoo is wrong but i find if you use both you get a good idea of how many backlinks you have

^ Is complete shit. It doesn't even show a fraction of backlinks to a URL. Stick with yahoo's site explorer and webmaster tools.

You are right. It always shows "Out of Yahoo Quota" error. Every time when i check my backlinks. Yahoo is good enough but Yahoo only shows 1000 backlinks not more than that but Yahoo update stats daily.
So anyone have any other Good website like Yahoo Site Explorer? to check back links ?? Thanks

Yeah i agree with the yahoo comments: You cant trust google on reporting the correct amount of backlinks so you must do your site search within yahoo - they tend to be much more accurate with the real level of backlinks - but this still is not going to be 100% perfect
I tried many things and settled for free version of SEO SpyGlass software. After using it for 2 months, what I found is that it is very relevant to my Google rankings. Each time a new link appears in SEO SpyGlass I can see that my google ranking for a relevant keyword goes up. I do not know why this happens but it suits me fine, since I can now predict things.
It as well pulls much more info about back-link than those web things. You get anchor text, total number of links shooting out of that page, PR and few more.
Full version is more than $200, I'll get it some time in future.

Just use http://www.popuri.us. I've recommended it here a couple of times for this same style of topic.
Type in your current domain name of choice and it gives you all of the social site blacklink counts and connections from all the major search engines and a few major social authority sites as well.
The best method of using it:
1. Check your domain, ( or better yet, that of a competitor, as you can check ANY domain ).
2. When the stats are completed, click on the ' details ' link out to the side of the link count on the right side and you will get a detailed list of physical links to the actual backlink resources.
These results will tell you what is working for you and who is taking your links, as well as who is working for your competition and what is working for them. The key is to pay attention as to how they are linking to the site, for what content and area of the target site they are getting information from; articles, blogs, a specific product or service page they are referencing, etc.
Then, the second part of that is to pay attention to where and how they get their links. You will get this from the same information above. The how will tell you the where.
If it is an article, you know to posts more articles like that one, as it worked and if you do proper seo, you will know how and where you posted it and continue to post the same way.

Take the time and see if their article links that you find have a reference submission in the article directories under the same title and author. Contact the webmaster of the same sites that have backlinks and ask them how you would get a reciprication link with them.
