Malware after factory reset?

Is there any way I could remove malware which survives factory reset? And also, I used a few antivirus apps like Malware Bytes but they didnt detect anything. However Im sure theres something going on with my phone because I've noticed suspicious things. I read on the internet that I could remove it by flashing a new ROM, but myself has no idea if I can even do it on my own. Any useful ideas?

Depends on what malware it was.
Most generic ones don't linger after a reset, as long it is a true proper reset.

Proper reset?? I just backed up some of the info and then I just cleared cache - wipe data/factory reset????

It is not a big deal. There are few options:
1. Find software online, connect phone and let software do it
2. Download chosen rom to SD/TF card, boot phone to recovery mode and install custom rom from archive

What make/model and android version you have?

Much less a factory reset.

How are you sure, whatever you "backed up" isn't infected?

I see. Well Ive done a factory reset multiple times and I dont think I backed it up each time, however thanks for pointing this out.

Unfortunately no solution to protect you in 100% of cases.

You have to do hard reset
Factory reset is not enough

Factory resets may not always remove persistent malware. Flashing a new ROM can help, but it requires technical expertise.

If your phone was rooted, then the malware might get in to your phone ROM. So, it doesn't matter how many times you reset it, as resetting won't solve the issue. The only solution is to download and flash the newly downloaded ROM.

I still remember the days when I had Nokia 6600 with Symbian OS. It was a used phone I purchased from the market and had the same issue. I have little phone knowledge at that time, so I tried my best to clean it and had no luck.

if after a factory reset you notice the phone still not working properly or notice the virus still there you need to flash the ROM but if you don't know how to do it I recommend you to get an expert, because you can brick the cellphone and won't be able to make it work again, you can't install any ROM you need to make sure the android version match with the one in your cellphone and UI also make sure is the correct version since there are USA,Brazil, EU versions this are just a few one and are even more since phone specifications change on every region and they are not the same most of the time.
