VPN Affiliate Journey

Firstly I would like to take the time to thank you for visiting my thread.

As the title states, I have managed to get myself accepted into a VPN affiliate program.

They offer a $50 CPA which for me is incredible.

I have a few ideas on how I want to share my affiliate link and these are listed below:

1.Pop/Push traffic
2.Native ads
3.Email list

Pop/Push Traffic - I have never tried my hand at this kind of traffic, what intrigues me to give it a shot is the cheap cost as a point of entry. With this kind of traffic would I be able to directly link to my offer? If so would this be a recommended choice or should I use a brief pre lander and try to capture their email address also? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated as always.

Native Ads - This is something I have also never dabbled with but I'm very interested in doing so as it seems to be fairly targeted and offers a huge global reach. Once again if anyone has any networks they have worked with in the past and would like to let me know that would be greatly appreciated.

Email List - SO as part of being accepted into such a affiliate program I managed to make use of a previous journey of mine... I used to offer IPTV services and managed to acquire 10k+ emails of clients that have been interested in my services or have taken a sub, the only problem face is how to send out bulk emails to my clients without ending up in the spam filter. Once again this is not something I've done in the past and would be eager to learn. My list has been cleaned and all emails are 100% genuine and targeted as they were all uses for back and fourth contact between me and my clients. I have since decided to stop my old venture and start a new venture with affiliate marketing instead.

September 2nd Update:

I've decided to change my landing page strategy, Instead of getting people to directly click on my affiliate link via the landing page I am now collecting their email address and have set up an automated email response for them to receive my affiliate link via email instead.

I think this will not only give me a better click through rate as there is less "bulk" to the landing page and more of a direct approach but also help me collect more emails to add to my list for further promotion down the line.​

You are right 10k emails aren't much, but in my case these emails all came form previous clients of mine that use IPTV. Its the best and easiest upsell for these types of users as many of them use such services to stop stream throttling and content blackouts etc... a vpn offers a bypass for many issues related to streaming etc..

For sure there's opportunity. I'd recommend those 10-20ms keywords. You'll find hundreds of them if you look enough.

Think about it like that. From what you are telling me.
If you will get 0.3%-0.5% I think its a good outcome in my opinion on the first month of Email Marketing.
So thats like 50 Clients * 50$ CPA = 2,500$.

For my first time trying something like this I think its pretty fair
Now I have also setup my new landing page to capture email addresses and im running it through google ads
i'm averaging 0.8c - 0.15c a click so its not so bad we'll wait and see

Little update for September 3rd:

Google ads are still running strong and averaging about 8c-10c a click and im getting around 80 clicks a day but still no email submits....

Any suggestions on how to optimize my landing page would be greatly appreciated.

Little end of day update:

Funnel seems to be working slowly slowly and I'm getting some email addresses.

Slow progress but progress none the less

I have also set up automated email responses with the affiliate link in the email description itself.

After a test sent the emails are being sent into the "promotions tab" on gmail.

In my landing page i have let ppl know that this is where the email is going to be so hopefully it increases my open rate.

So far I've spent around $20/5 (September 1st-4th) and these are my stats:

Impressions: 3k
Clicks: 241
Email Submits: 4
VPN Sales: 0

(Also please note I'm not targeting tier 1 countries only)

What I'm thinking of doing moving forward:

1. Improve my ad copy as 3000 impressions and only 241 clicks, I need to adjust some things on my ads to increase the CTR.



2. Find out why so little people are actually opting in to the email list as this is the main way I then monetize the VPN affiliate. Since most are on mobile I'm thinking of literally just showing the opt in instead of the opt in and the client testimonials etc... less bulky imo ill give it a shot and see how it goes for a day or two.

As always if anyone has some suggestions I am always keen to hear and appreciate any help or tips ​

Mid day update September 4th

Added a few more descriptions for my ads and also added a short call to action on the landing page below the sign up form.

Updated my email template for the auto responder with a more descriptive email into what the client would be getting by subscribing to the vpn service etc..

*If anyone has any suggestions on how I can track clicks on my affiliate links from the emails being sent please let me know, My first thought was to shorten the url with bitly and track it that way. However if anyone has a better way I'm all ears.*

Sorry for the excessive posting. From now on I will just try to post once a day as a end of day recap.

I have just finished fully mobile optimizing my landing page and this is what it's looking like.

September 6th Update:

1. Further optimized my landing page with a better call to action and I'm seeing better results.
2. Ads being optimized slowly, getting cheaper clicks and more email sign ups. Still spending more that what I want to for the amount of emails I've gathered.
3. Yet to get a conversion on the affiliate program (Cant expect much with just 14 emails I suppose)

If anyone has any suggestion on how to track clicks both via email and my landing/thank you page after the email submit please let me know. I was considering using Bit.ly but I'm afraid Gmail or other email providers might send it to spam because of it.
