Hi,

I'm doing link building for SEO Website. So we've decided to distribute some Free Wordpress themes. I know that this is not a new method , But still i think we can get some links from it in long term.

SO we're searching for a theme designer, Hopefully we'll get one soon . But I've few doubts.

1. How much should I pay for the theme. We are not looking for something exclusive , just an average kind of theme.

2. Do you know of any good websites where I can submit my themes for review.

3. If you've tried this method , then please let me know your suggestions or results you achieved with it.

Looking forward to hear your opinions

Don't do site wide links = spam, do homepage only IMO.

The cost is irrelevant at this stage really. You need to know that you're going to be able to distribute the theme and that you're going to have that uptake before you work out how much to pay to have it made.

3. If you've tried this method , then please let me know your suggestions or results you achieved with it.

Been there done it, scored my links, got banned (lol sitewide links FTL) and learned from it and git more links (no ban this time).

Looking forward to hear your opinions

Research the distribution first and foremost and THEN work out the cost of production.

Hope that helps.

Russaus,

Not sure , why your website got banned ? Search Engines don't ban any website as it is, If that would be the case, I've started negative link building campaigns for our competitors .

Search engines ban - if your site is full of duplicate content, linking to other banned sites and other similar reasons.

The maximum they can do is to devalue the backlinks you get from these themes.

Anyhow, I'm still learning more about the distribution method because that is the most important part of the process

The price can range from anywhere between $50 and $1050 depending on what you are looking for. Don't go with something too average looking since not many people will install it. Themes that are related to your niche would be the best way to go since the links will have even higher value when they are coming from a related site.

Just head to DP there are tons of designers selling theme sponsorship there.PM them and tell them that you are interested in sponsoring their theme but you want to know where the design will be submitted that should give a pretty nice list of places.

The method worked pretty well , I didn't hire a designer to do themes for me just bought a few links at DP but one of the themes got quite a few installs which helped a lot. Just don't forget to mix the theme footer links with regular links to make it appear more natural :).

They get de-indexed. ban wasn't the correct term.

The links were spammy. In the footer of all the WP Themes were 10 links to one blog. This was 5 years ago and our site was #1 in Google and Yahoo! for 6 key phrases making me around 120K USD a month from online casino revenue. Around the same time back then, either my competitors or the algorithm reported paid link buys or spam OR (most likely) the algorithm determined the links to be spam (which, in reality, they were).

Lesson learned. Expensive but the affiliate revenue held strong while I built it back up.

The de-indexed me, I changed my definition because they didn't all out ban me. I was removed from SERPs for my keywords.

The distribution method is the most important method. I agree 100%. Without getting those templates out there, it's a wasted investment.

Thinking ahead though. If you did get mass uptake on the theme and creating a LOT of links, I just thought, it would be cool to have the link code react to the number of links or to make a random link (from an array for example) upon install.

I think this is a decent idea if you get an explosion of theme installs :)
