Just today, I received notice of this manual action applied to our website. We are in the firearms niche. They announced this MONTHS ago and have not had any issues. What does this mean for my site?

in simple terms it means you will not rank for as long as you have this penalty on.

Sorry, my friend. One thing you should know that in this time and age, with all the "woke" culture going on, firearms seems to be in the "blacklist", and Google has gone 'woke' (e.g: business listings with race-owned categories, .etc).

So Google has penalised your site and you can expect a sharp drop in traffic. There's nothing you can do as it is Google's game and property.

What you can still do is focus on other search engines like Bing or duckduckgo, or just move on to another niche.

Usually, it's a wrap
Are all of your pages still indexed?

So they actually sent an email reply this morning. It is a Google News and Discover violation and will not affect regular organic search as I anticipated. I feel like that is really something they should put on the flag. So far, no pages are deindexed and we are keeping normal traffic.

Convincing Google to lift the thin content penalty imposed, while possible, may require both pruning poor landing pages and enriching existing landing pages with fresh, relevant content.

In many cases, using data in order to provide relevant and unique information is a great way to make the website stand out

Nevertheless, you should take your first manual action as a badge of honour. You've risen in the ranks of Blackhatters to First Lieutenant. The next bump in rank comes after your first manual action for 'pure spam' ;)

Its possible lmao. Been buying links like a mf. Tried telling them its dangerous but they insist. Gained over a million backlinks in the past 6 weeks. We will see lmao.

I don’t know why businesses open an online venture and pick up on a few articles and behave like a pro SEO professional.

You are wasting your time and money in buying links that may only lead to your website being labelled as “SPAM”.

If I was just a business without SEO knowledge, I would have consulted a few professionals before deciding on creating a complete off-page SEO strategy.

Going by the books helps, and one can never match the knowledge of an SEO professional just by reading a few odd articles.

You’re going to end up spending more time, money and anxiety of course which can be avoided by making a decision in favor of retaining an SEO expert on your monthly payroll for consultations.

That’s my reserved opinion.

As far as Google mail to the OP, the traffic drop would not be overnight.

You will have a complete picture of how a penalized website loses traffic in 2-3 weeks.

Yeah thats cool man. Idk where you get off coming at me like that without knowing anything about me or my situation. I had advised them, multiple times, not to buy backlinks. Told them the risks etc etc. It was their decision to take the risk. It isn't my business, I just work here.

Not to mention it seems like you blatantly skipped over the only other thing I said in this post, which was that its reserved to Google News and Discover, which we were not on to begin with. So slow your roll there big guy and maybe try having a conversation as opposed to spouting your mind thinking you are right about everything.
