So, i live in a small country and posting in English, instead of the native language of the country

1/3 of the impressions on my posts are from said country, possibly a bit more, since the analytics show only the capital - and they are not engaging for the life of them lol

Would it be helpful to change the location on my profile that I am Germany/UK , or maybe the US? Maybe even use VPN when accessing Linkedin?

Has anyone tried this?

I am not looking for a job, I am looking for clients and I conduct my services remotely, so this shouldn't be an issue

Changing your location to a larger market like Germany/UK or the US could potentially attract more international clients, but using a VPN might risk violating LinkedIn's terms of service.

I don't see any problem doing that
I register account with an Ip but I put the location of another country

Well I have tried it before and it did NOT work. (Without VPN).

In the process of creating your account, you will need to verify with details that match your IP.

Even if you bypass this first stage, they will restrict your account in few days time and ask you to verify with ID.

You can try it with a good VPN though.

Yes, tried it out - so far I have suffered no penalties (aside a drop in reach, but this could be to other reasons too, so this will require more testing before I can conclude whether it was due to the location change)

HOWEVER:

instead of ~30% of viewers to be form my home city, now they are 50%(!!!!)

So far the location change has done the contrary of helping.

Also, I did not use VPN, I don't want unnecessary risk - I want to change only the location on the profile itself

You can Change Your Location any time.. it's easy just edit your profile

If you do that LinkedIn may suspend your account temporary and ask for a ID verification....if you can do the ID verification then its okay....in this case linkedin will match your name photo and date of birth mainly with your ID. But keep in mind that they don't accept any fake ID

Yeah the system you following is good. But when you try to use shared VPN like Nord, Pure vpn etc Linkedin may be suspended your accout for violations. That's why you need to use static fixed Proxy must be mobile proxy is good enough.

Lmao i stated my awareness of that in the quoted text. The question was would there be any negative effects of this, and whether it will be enough compared to the option of using a VPN as well

I can do the ID verificaition, it's my personal account with my real information.

Thank you for raising this, but for my particular situation this is not an issue. Eventhough my real address of residence is not in EU/Schengen, residents of my country can go to Germany visa free for a set amount of time, and getting an extended visa - while not very simple - is quite possible. I do highly doubt that linkedin will go that deep on the matter for a simple "location" issue though.

Thought as much, form all the other threads about proxies for TikTok and what not, seems that that would be another solution for this

UPDATE 2:
The location seems to have made significant changes to my reach.

Ever since changing the location two of my posts exploded (one 100+, the other 70+) and the impressions of my hometown have dropped, while the overall impressions have stayed the same amount (meaining, all posts aside from the two that made it big).

So, i guess it's safe to say that the mission has been accomplished lol?

You can simply change your location on account.
I have already stated that I am aware of that, the question was whether it will be worth it, and whether there will be other penalties for doing so

Exactly this. VPNs are risky nowadays.

Consider updating your LinkedIn location if it benefits your target audience. While VPN use may affect your LinkedIn experience, it's essential to maintain authenticity in your profile information.
