Why do people think dropshipping is a scam or not working anymore?

I have an honest question guys, Why everyone has this opinion?
I mean why it is different for example from Zara, Sephora or I don't know from other brands? Or let's say from startups that sell I don't know handmade knives?
If the reason for this is that shipping times are too long, or suppliers are weird Chinese dudes with their weird products, I can say that I don't source from Ali, I ship for cheap in 7-9 days and have a professional website.

What is the main reason behind that?

My main problem about drop shipping the payment processor and the shipping times are too long and the quality of the items are not consistent.

I always use multiple paypals, I have my own freight forwarding company and know guys who can source good quality products, is there any other problem?

Paypal will always find a way to limit your account. I have multiple paypal accounts got limited. Paypal will refund the money to customers you already shipped.

No one thinks dropshipping is a scam.

It takes a significant amount of money, time and effort to become profitable now in 2023 and especially if you have never done it before and have no experience.

Dropshipping was a good beginner method that covered a wide range of things such as ads, copywriting, sales, customer service etc.

Dropshipping is the fulfillment model of choice for about 33% of online stores and it keeps growing every year. Dropshipping as a model of business is in no way a scam.

I don't think anybody considers dropshipping as a scam but personally I don't wanna work on that because of the low profit margins. I'm sure there're products that makes good amount of money but the process of learning it doesn't sound engaging to me

I wouldnt say dropshipping scam, but there a few gurus promoting it in a way that makes it look much better than it is to sell overpriced courses

"WELCOME TO MY DROPSHIPPING COURSE YOUVE PAID ME $9999 FOR". That about sums it up. It's way too oversaturated. You have total beginners buying a cat printer or fake apple watch and trying to resell it for many times what they paid. Or you have those beginners just marketing their store which is handled by a 3rd party that takes a percentage. It's just become too oversaturated.

I also suspect temu and aliexpress for damaging the industry, as I can go and buy whatever you're selling for half your price on one of those platforms, and it's just not as profitable anymore to dropship. Especially with temu taking over the us through their referral program, but that's another story.

the courses I remember was of people essentially just telling them to set up PPC ads on Google and it will start printing money for them. Might work for some that their PPC become cashflow positive fast and without experience, but probably not for most.

You're an outlier. I'd say majority of dropshippers haven't even tested the products they sell or the suppliers that fulfill their orders.

As others have said, dropshipping has become synonymous with gurus and get-rich-quick schemes, delegitimizing the people who are actually making money.

Dropshipping is neither a scam or not working.
I've been doing this for long enough to be confident in saying that it pays the bills month after month.

Shipping time and Payments are the two problems in dropshipping. If you have these two by your side you are good to go. Another important thing you need to consider is constant traffic to your website. If you choose products that are very hard to rank for or you don't have other good SMM channel then you might loose as well. So selecting low KD keywords / unique products is also important here.

What are the reliable dropship sources for USA fast shipping? Except amazon, ebay, wamart, homedeport

The problem with dropshipping anno 2023 is that thousands of Chinese suppliers are creating own websites and sell them directly to the end market. Next to that the market is saturated by millions of 14 year old kids having shopify stores and not delivering their goods because they already spent the money and forgot to buy the goods first.

It will always remain a question that I wonder and cannot find the answer to.
