What is this guy doing with his website? How is it possible?

The reason for opening this post is to ask for your opinion on a website.

I've been in the SEO business for a while and this is the second time I've seen something like this.

The site in question is ridiculously written and ridiculously fake. Its "author", an authentic fake, displays one of those photos that, if add you on Instagram, you already know it's a scam before you open the profile.

Even so, according to Ahrefs' traffic estimator, the site has gone from 314 monthly views in April to an astonishing 10 million this August. It doesn't have a high DR or DA or anything.

Please, I ask you to activate the translator to see the content. On the author's page, the guy claims to have a law degree from Brazil's most famous university, and says he aims to "uncomplicate Brazilian labor legislation". However, the articles on the site are things like "What's the meaning of seeing a bluebird on a winter's day".

My questions are:

1- What is this webmaster doing?
2- How is it possible that Google's robot is so dumb that it doesn't realize that this is an entirely fake site, with content probably generated by AI?

It's simply a joke to know how difficult it is to grow in this environment and how easy this guy has made it.

The only people that can answer this are the actual google engineers. Anyone who doesn't work for google thinks they can answer this, is just hearsay speculation.

What are you planning on doing now that you have come across it? I usually don't write or take note of anomalies of sites that are behaving extraordinarily. I prefer just to study the sites similar to mine that have taken the real route to web publishing.

This is just a shitty site. I wouldn't waste your time looking at it as a priority over your own daily web publishing.

It's simply a joke to know how difficult it is to grow in this environment and how easy this guy has made it.

It's not easy. He scraped millions of keywords and thousands of pages of content then organized it. You need knowledge of coding. Then they used AI to generate the content. Created the website with a great structure. Then indexed the whole site very fast. Also it's not free. A good investment is needed.

Now he will make money for a few months. But I doubt it because now you exposed the site.

Google is not dumb. But it takes time because it's a machine and it's processing hundreds of such exact same sites. They are just gathering more patterns. Usually google catches these sites in a few months, sometimes faster.

I wouldn't say that the webmaster has got to that point "easily", that's not a trivial thing to achieve.

Organizing a spam site, scraping keywords, using aged domains eventually or 301 redirection, using AI to write content.
It's not like he received a blessing from heavens, he knows what he's doing and can execute all this properly.
Not exactly a joke, and still he has way higher chances to get penalized and lose his work because someone out his site on public forums even if he's not going to have any benefits from that at all, it's not like outing other's job is going to give you higher rankings.

Answering the questions: no, I don't expect this site to be penalized. However, I was shocked by this extraordinary growth. This site doesn't compete with my niches. However, in the past, I observed something similar on a site that competed with me.

In fact, I can't imagine how that site would be penalized for me displaying it here, given that I put spaces between its URL. It's much more exposed by ranking at the top of thousands of keywords.

What hasn't been clear to me so far is how it managed to get to the top of the rankings. I can imagine the effects of massive indexing, but it's in first place for many keywords, competing with older sites with very high DR. How can he do this without a robust backlink profile?

Google algo is weird, many times its random enough for being exploited by some tricks, spamindex is one of those tricks. He managed to indexed 30k pages, so he can gets enough "random" and "page 1 surprise" from tons of articles, weak keywords, etc.

The key of spamindexing is how to index tons of articles, if you can do that, you get traffic naturally.

Yeah, it's still a lot of work, though - you'll need a really good coded system, to produce such sites quick and performance is a constant problem. I got such a system and my nginx logs alone are normally ~30-50gb - only search engines - and 1000-2000 requests per second are the norm.
I don't think, you can make it that big in scale with what they used, though - most domains will not make it big, but enough to be profitable, so you will need a lot of domains. And that's a point, where wordpress and classical CMS will not be usable anymore and even static files become a nightmare just because of the pure size...

I'm Brazilian too, as you probably are. And researching the texts published on this site, I've come to different conclusions from what I initially thought and from what some of the comments above say.

The content is duplicated. It's not generated by an AI. It's simply a copy of what has already been published on other sites/blogs/articles and even texts from Facebook pages...so it's nothing that sophisticated or that requires infinite credits in chat gpt.

Apparently it's just automatically copying and pasting a bunch of articles and creating duplicate content.

Sooner or later this will be penalized by Google, but in the meantime he's making money freely, that's how it works. Perhaps the great mystery is the high index rate of this site.

But I don't know how many posts he made. Maybe there are 1 million posts and ''only'' 49000 have been indexed. I've seen that there are posts in Spanish, Portuguese, probably English and other languages too, meaning he uses some plugin or tool to simply create duplicate content and re-post what has already been posted on other sites.

About 350€ dedicated with 32 cores and 256GB Ram - wich is basicly important, cause getting everything out ouf a db is not useful and I have to store it in a cache.
The backend & frontend is a fastAPI on Python base, DB is MongoDB and nginx for serving all of this of cause.
It didn't reach it's boundries so far, I guess a smaller server would do as well.

And to be fair - every domain comes with ~5mio pages and there are some thousend domains =D

As said, about 350€ wich is about 300-400 USD. Domain costs are okayish, but by far the biggest part. I got a very good deal with my registar and pay 1€ for registration and monthly 0,2€ and I can cancel em monthly.
So if a domain makes initially 1€, it only has to make more than 0,2€ to be profitable, wich is doable =D
Some additional costs like proxies and a bit for the GPT API, to generate spintaxes etc, also come on the top, but this varries obviously.
